Why not strive to raise Nollywood to Hollywood standards – Daddy Freeze tells Desmond Elliot

Yesterday, Nollywood actor cum politician, Desmond Elliot came under fire after he called for the ban of foreign movies in Nigeria to enable the growth of the Nigerian Movie Industry.

The 45-year-old representing Surulere constituency at the Lagos State house of assembly spoke on the current situation of the country’s Movie Industry.

According to him, the Federal Government should make it difficult for foreign content to come into the country so that local content from Nigeria can grow.

In his reaction, Daddy Freeze said, ‘Dear Brother Desmond, I love you, but I’m not with you on this. I should be able to choose what I want to watch if I’m paying for it, shouldn’t I?
Why don’t you strive to raise Nollywood to Hollywood standards and then people will gravitate towards Nollywood naturally?’.

Last week the Trump administration moved to lift the 20-day legal limit on how long children can be separated from their families, in a move aiming to establish a stronger deterrent to illegal immigration. “August Southwest Border Migration numbers show a clear indicator that the migration flows are responding to gaps in our nation’s legal framework,” said DHS spokesman Tyler Houlton. “Smugglers and traffickers understand our broken immigration laws better than most and know that if a family unit illegally enters the US they are likely to be released into the interior,” he said in a statement. Data from US Customs and Border Protection showed the total number of people arrested, including individuals and unaccompanied children, also rose significantly in August from July to 37,544 individuals, and was sharply higher than one year ago.
