A Town In US Elects Goat And Dog As Mayor

In 2018, the town made national headlines when it elected Lincoln the goat as its first-ever pet mayor. Town Manager Joe Gunter said Monday that the idea for pet mayors was put forward as a way to raise funds for the new playground. The animals would be the centerpiece for various fundraisers and events. Lincoln raised about $10,000, Gunter said, while the current Mayor, Murfee, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, owned by Linda Barker, has raised $20,000. The town contributed another $20,000. “When I was talked into putting Murfee up to run, I thought, easy-peasy, we’ll get some T-shirts, we’ll go to the Spring Fling, we’ll sell some shirts and raise some money,” said Barker. “And then COVID struck and it was like ... there go all the easy plans.” Barker then began making face m...

Joe Biden Reveals What will Happen if Trump Loses Election and Refuses to Leave White House

US presidential candidate and former Vice-president, Joe Biden, has revealed what will happen in case Trump loses the 2020 presidential election to him and refuses to vacate the White House. In recent days senior military figures have spoken out publicly against the president since peaceful protesters were forcefully removed from the Lafayette Square area near the White House to clear a path so Trump and his entourage could safely walk to St. John’s Episcopal Church. The president’s military critics have included former Defense Secretary James Mattis, retired four-star Marine Corps Gen. John Allen and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. The president last year also joked he won't leave office because he is doing well. “Maybe if we really like it a lot -- and if things k...

EU Rejects Any US Attempt To Invoke Iran Nuclear Deal

The European Union's top diplomat said Tuesday that since the United States has already withdrawn from an international agreement curbing Iran's nuclear ambitions, it can't now use its former membership of the pact to try to impose a permanent arms embargo on the Islamic Republic. The accord, which Iran signed with the U.S., Britain, Germany, France, China and Russia in 2015, has been unraveling since President Donald Trump pulled Washington out in 2018 and reinstated sanctions designed to cripple Tehran under what the U.S. called a "maximum pressure" campaign. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft have said that extending a permanent U.N. backed arms embargo against Iran is now a top priority for Washington. But speaking to ...

Iran to execute spy convicted of helping US kill top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani

An Iranian national convicted of spying for the US and Israel by helping target top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani will be executed soon, Iran’s judiciary said on Tuesday. Mahmoud Mousavi Majd was convicted of spying on Iran’s armed forces “especially the Quds Force and on the whereabouts and movements of martyr General Qassem Soleimani” for large sums of money from both Israel’s Mossad and the CIA, judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili told a televised news conference. His sentence was upheld by Iran’s supreme court and would be “carried out soon,” the spokesman added. Soleimani headed the Quds Force, the foreign operations arm of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, and was killed in January in a US drone strike near Baghdad airport. The strike also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muha...

I Don’t Need 2nd Term, I’ll Go To The US To Enjoy My Money – Abdullahi Sule

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has said that he is not bothered about being re-elected in 2023. In a chat with journalists in Lafia, the state capital, to mark his first anniversary in office, the governor said he was grateful to God for giving him a four-year mandate; a period he deems long enough for him to contribute his quota to the development of the state. The governor, who was responding to a question on the speculation around the state that the people might not be ready to re-elect him in 2023, said he was ready to return to the US or Saudi Arabia to enjoy his life after his four-year mandate. According to him, “one thing I have never been threatened about in life is my second term as governor. Let me tell you, in 1998, while working in the US, I felt I was b...

Europe urges Trump to reconsider decision to withdraw from WHO

European leaders called on U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday to rethink his decision to terminate the U.S.’ relationship with the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Trump announced the decision on Friday, arguing the UN agency has failed to respond to U.S. concerns about its handling of the virus, which originated in China. A spokesperson said the WHO, the founders of which include the U.S., had no comment to make on Saturday. The European Commission was more vocal. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called on Trump to reconsider, saying only global cooperation and solidarity could help to combat the virus. Global cooperation is needed rather than solo efforts, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas told newspapers belonging to th...
