Fire guts former Oyo First lady, Florence Ajimobi’s supermarket

Fire on Sunday, gutted a section of the supermarket belonging to the wife of late former governor of Oyo State, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi.   The supermarket known as Grandex Stores located at Bodija, Ibadan, was said to be on fire at about 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon, as a result of an electrical surge from the back of the store which later got out of hands, turned into a wildfire and spread to the main building.   The Deputy Director, Oyo State Fire Service, Moshood Adewuyi, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said that the timely intervention of the state’s firefighters prevented the store from burning into ashes,   He disclosed that the fire destroyed some sections of the store and damaged a lot of goods stored inside.   Mrs. Florence Ajimo...

Fashion entrepreneur Tara Durotoye has visited her vandalised store in Lekki area of Lagos. The chief executive of House of Tara shared a video on Instagram on Monday from her visit to the store. “I got the courage to visit my vandalized store yesterday to see the extent of the damage,” she said. “The destruction to economic assets in this singular mall alone is disheartening.”   Mrs Durotoye urged all whose stores were vandalised to find strength in God. Minister of Works, Housing and Electricity Babatunde Fashola at the 32nd Convocation Lecture of Yabatech College of Technology, said 9 government-owned Universities to get solar power plant, The Nation reports. Abdullah Muflahi, the store owner who had a surveillance video of the Baton Rouge shooting of Alton Sterling by Police officers has told a Baton Rouge District court in a lawsuit that police stole the surveillance video from his store, took his cellphone and locked him in a car for four hours. Sterling, a 37-year-old black father of five, was tackled and wrestled onto the hood of a car by two police officers around 12:35 a.m before cops fired five shots at Sterling, who was hit once in the chest and once in the back on July 5.  The lawsuit is seeking damages for false arrest, false imprisonment, the illegal taking and seizing of his security system and illegally commandeering his business.
