Four Arrested for Phone Theft at Governor Akeredolu’s Inauguration

The Ondo state police command has arrested four men for reportedly stealing phones during last week’s second-term inauguration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. The suspects who committed the offence at the event held at the Dome have been identified as  Ojo Femi, 30, Abiodun Adewale, 45, Kayode Olarewaju, 45 years and Aiwole, 25. They were arrested by men of the Operation Scorpion Squad on the Ilesha-Akure Road while returning to their bases in Oyo, Osun and Kwara states. Police spokesman, Tee-Leo Ikoro said seven phones stolen at the inauguration ceremony were recovered from the suspects who would soon be charged to court.

A Dutse Grade I Area Court, Abuja on Monday sentenced Nazifi Usman, an 18-year-old trader, to six months imprisonment for stealing a television set belonging to a church. A middle-aged woman, simply identified as Iya Ayo, was arrested for tying up her 10-year-old son, Ayo, in a sack and locking him up in a wardrobe for four days in the Fesojaye community, Owode, in Osun State, The woman reportedly tied up her son last Thursday until on Sunday May 16 when a neighbor heard his cry for help. The neighbor immediately alerted the leaders of the community who in turn alerted the police, The woman was arrested and her son freed. The Supreme Court has nullified the judgment which convicted former Abia state governor and serving senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, and Ude Udeogo, the former Director of Finance and Accounts during Kalu's administration. Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, and Ude Udeogo were arrested and jailed for diverting N7.6 billion belonging to the state government during their time in office. The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Idowu Sikiru for burning his 5-year-old son's buttock, mouth and fingers for stealing cooked fish. Police on Friday arraigned three men, Muiz Ayila, 24, Yusuf Gaji, 22, and Wasiu Emiloju,18, before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of clothes worth N450,000.
