Shoprite Worker Commits Suicide In Akure After Being Suspended From Work

A 23-year-old woman and employee of Shoprite in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Jumoke Kehinde, has reportedly committed suicide after being suspended from work. Kehinde was found dead on New Year’s Eve at her apartment along Oda Road in the Kajola area of Akure. She was said to have allegedly taken a substance suspected to be Sniper, a pesticide, after being suspended from work. South Africa’s supermarket group, Shoprite Holdings, has announced plans to sell or close its remaining two stores in Kenya by the end of December. The supermarket group said it will be leaving the East African country two years after it began operations in the country.
