JAMB Announces New Date For 2020 Post-UTME Screening

The 2020/2021 post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination screening will commence in Nigeria’s higher institutions on September 7. The agreement was reached at a meeting between the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, and Provosts of tertiary institutions on Monday. Registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, who made the announcement, said the screening would now hold between September 7 and November 18. Earlier, the board had issued a guideline for all tertiary institutions to begin their admission with effect from August 20. Oloyede said the adjustment in the date would allow students taking the 2020 O’ level examinations to be able to participate in the screening. Latest test Results for EPL Players Revealed Ahead of June 17 Restart

The Premier League received a major boost in a bid to restart on June 17, after the latest round of COVID-19 tests produced no new positive cases. A total of 1,195 players and club staff were tested in the sixth round of screening, which was carried out on Thursday and Friday. “The Premier League can confirm that on Thursday 4 June and Friday 5 June, 1,195 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19. Of these, zero have tested positive,” the league said in a statement. This means there have been only 13 positive results from an overall 6,274 tests carried out on Premier League players and club staff. Testing will continue twice weekly, as officials look to resume the season that was put on hold in March.

Niger Reports Sharp Drop In New AIDS Infections

The number of new AIDS infections in Niger dropped by more than two thirds between 2012 and 2016, the health ministry said Saturday, in a statement marking World AIDS day. Aids Health Minister Idi Illiassou said new infections in the four-year period under review fell from 6,000 to 1,761, a decline of 70 percent. AIDS-related deaths in the country fell by 15 percent over the same period, according to Illiassou. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has released its nationwide recruitment screening time-table for applicants who applied for the corps’ recruitment into the different Cadres.
