18 Houses Seized From Aliyu Usman, Dasuki’s Associate By EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has seized 18 houses in an estate allegedly belonging to Alhaji Aliyu Usman , an associate of the embattled former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.). Usman as well as two companies linked to him - Leaderettehe Nigeria Limited and Nordeen Global Resources – were among 300 others listed as persons who allegedly received contracts from the Office of the National Security Adviser . The EFCC said Musa allegedly diverted N 897 m he received from the ONSA fund and allegedly used it to construct the estate . The inscription, ‘ EFCC, Keep Off !’ was seen on the 18 terrace houses in the estate which is located at Mbora District , Abuja. The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday affirmed the bail granted the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, in the charge of unlawful possession of firearms and money laundering brought against him by the Federal Government. Justice Ahmed Mohammed affirmed the bail shortly after taking Mr. Dasuki’s plea in the amended seven-count charge. The judge said that since the prosecution counsel, Oladipo Opeseyi, did not object to the bail of the ex-NSA, the court has to affirm same. Charges Against Sambo Dasuki Can’t Be Consolidated, Says Court

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has ruled that the two sets of charges brought against former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), cannot be consolidated because of the number of defendants involved in the charges. Justice Baba-Yusuf, declining the motion for consolidation of the two charges said the trial would be made difficult for the court to manage if both charges are merged. Dasuki had prayed the court to consolidate the two charges against him so as not to suffer double jeopardy. The judge said the applicant has not shown to the court that he had been tried or convicted on the same offence before any other court.
