Teachers of Primary and secondary schools in Rivers State Government-owned tertiary institutions have cried out over the non-payment of their salaries running into five years. The affected teachers are from the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Demonstration Secondary School, Ndele, Rivers state University International Secondary and Staff School, Port Harcourt, and the Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic Comprehensive Secondary School, Bori. Rivers state government has released new guidelines on how burial ceremonies will henceforth be conducted in the state adding that defaulters of these new guidelines will have to pay a fine of N10 million. Rivers State Government Cautions Fishing Communities Over Massive Death Of Fishes

The Rivers State Government has warned fishing communities against eating or selling dead fishes found floating in rivers of Finima in Bonny LGA and Oyorokoto in Andoni LGA. The affected fish species is croaker, popularly known as ‘Broke Marriage’ and called ‘Onah’ in Ibani dialect. Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr Austin Tam-George, has condemned the governor of Kano State, Alhaji Mohammed Ganduje, for inciting violence in Rivers State, during his speech at the APC campaign rally in Port Harcourt Thursday.
