It was lamentation by the Senators over what they described as an unending killing spree being carried out in some communities in Niger and Katsina States by armed bandits. The Senate has called on the federal government to direct Police and Nigeria Army to beef up personnel and equipment deployment to flashpoints of armed banditry in Katsina State in order to flush out the bandits and restore peace in the State. The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday declared a one week fasting and prayers for God to restore the mandate of the former governor of the state, Mr Emeka Ihedioha. The Federal Government has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to reject a request by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to restore his revoked bail. On Friday we obtained the counter-affidavit filed before the court by the Federal Government to oppose an application filed in April last year by Kanu seeking the restoration of his bail. FAAN Restores Ebola Screening Points At Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has restored screening points and detecting machines at the airport to prevent the reappearance of Ebola outbreak in Nigeria. This is coming after the outbreak of Ebola in Democratic Republic of Congo. FAAN’s acting General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, assured passengers and airport users of safety at the nation’s airports. She said all measures adopted in 2014 to curtail the dreaded virus is very much in place and has been fortified. Yakubu said there is no outbreak of Ebola in Nigeria or at any Nigerian airport, urging passengers and airport users to go about their business activities without fear.
