Italian Police Arrest 16 People During Raid On Nigerian Drug Ring

On Tuesday, Italian police arrested 16 people as they smashed a Nigerian mafia drugs ring in the northern city of Trento, ANSA News Agency of Italy reported on Tuesday. The report also said police carried out 20 raids in the regions of Trentino, Veneto and Lombardy in the operation, codenamed 'Underground'. Police said the gang-controlled the drugs trade in Trento. Five suspected cultists have been arrested with human skulls in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State. Cross River state commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),  Danjuma Elisha said the suspects were apprehended following a raid on a compound in Ogoja area. He said;  “This is a case of suspected cultism, ritualists in Ogoja Local Government Area. They were found with all the items they used in their activities. “We raided the place because it is a compound. Eventually, four of them were found to be the people involved. NAFDAC Officials Raid Facility Where Ladies Peel Their Skin (Video)

Some officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control have raided the skin care outlet in which a lady was spotted 'peeling' her skin in a water filled with a "greenish chemical". Recall that in a video shared earlier, a woman was seen lying nearly naked in a bathtub filled with water while an attendant was seen carrying out the exfoliation process. The facility was raided on December 4 by NAFDAC officials, after the agency received a petition about the skin care outlet. This came after the owner of the facility lashed out at her critics after a video of the new bleaching process ignited an uproar. In the video shared online, NAFDAC officials were seen removing some of the skin care products for tests which will be carried out at their office.

South African Police Officer Found Guilty Of Killing Nigerian

A 24-year-old South African police constable, Austin Luciano Reynold, has been found guilty for the 2018 murder of a Nigerian, Ebuka Okoli, in Durban, Kwa Zulu Natal. Okoli was shot at close range during an unauthorised raid by the police officer on the community where he resides. He was reportedly handcuffed, robbed and shot at close range by the officer, who was off duty at the time of the raid. Appearing before Judge Shyam Gyanda on Friday on one charge of murder and three charges of robbery, the accused was found guilty on all four charges. The tide turned on him when his accomplice in the raid turned state witness.

EFCC Raid Home Of Former GMD Of NNPC Andrew Yakubu, Find $9.2m

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives raided the home of Andrew Yakubu, former General Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), in Kaduna city on Thursday. The agents recovered $9.2 million from Mr. Yakubu's safe and an additional £72,000. The EFCC said it was the largest sum of cash the commission had recovered in recent weeks. Mr. Yakubu was arraigned in June 2016 on allegations of money laundering. He served as GMD of NNPC from 2012 to 2014 during the Goodluck Jonathan administration. Premium Times reported in 2014 that the embattled GMD was sacked after then Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke accused him of insubordination.
