Social Media Users In Northern Nigeria Attack BBC For Publishing Photo Of Saudi King Shaking Hands With Germany’s Angela Merkel

Social media users from Northern Nigeria have attacked British Broadcasting Corporation (Hausa Service) for publishing a picture of King Salman of Saudi Arabia shaking hands with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel. BBC Hausa had on Tuesday morning published the picture of the duo together on its online platform. “Saudi King Salman emphasizes Germany's importance to freedom of expression,” the photo was captioned. The Department of State Services has invited editor of a campus newspaper at Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Ogun State, Ayoola Babalola, for interrogation over the publication of certain contents on Omoyele Sowore. The campus newspaper had recently published articles demanding good governance and obedience to rule of law in Nigeria. Some of the articles published include: 'Will EFCC investigate Chief Bola Tinubu?', 'Sowore: An equal opportunity offender', and 'President Buhari does not believe in Nigeria'. Court Bars Daily Nigerian From Publishing Ganduje ‘Bribery’ Videos

A Kano high court has granted an interim injunction sought by Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano governor, restraining Daily Nigerian Newspaper and Jafaar Jafaar, its publisher, from publishing videos about him. The news platform had published videos showing Ganduje allegedly collecting kickbacks from contractors. Ganduje had subsequently filed a N3 billion suit against the newspaper. The governor asked the court to declare the publication as wrongful and a defamation of character.
