One Dead and at Least 11 Injured in Minneapolis Shooting

One man has died and another 11 have been injured during a shooting in the US city of Minneapolis. George Floyd's death at the hands of White Police officers has sparked a move to overhaul the Minneapolis Police Department, prompting backlash from the police and Republicans who question how citizens will be protected from violent crime without the police. Barack Obama Reacts to Supreme Court’s Ruling in Favour of Protecting LGBTQ Rights

Former US President, Barack Obama took to Twitter and Instagram to react after the Supreme Court's decision of  protecting LGBTQ rights. The Supreme Court ruled on Monday, June 15, 2020, that gay and transgender people are protected against employment discrimination under existing civil rights laws. Justice Neil M. Gorsuch and Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. joined the court’s liberals in the 6-to-3 ruling. INEC Barred from De-registering 31 Political Parties

The Independent National Electoral Commission has been restrained from deregistering 31 political parties. Justice Anwuli Chikere of the Federal High Court who presided over the interlocutory motion with suit number: FHC//ABJ/ CS/444/19 between Advanced Congress of Democratic (ACD) and 2 others Vs. Attorney General of the Federation and another (INEC), stated that the legal rights of the affected political parties has to be protected as the electoral commission failed to oppose the application by the applicants. Recall that INEC deregistered 74 political parties on February 6, for not meeting the requirements of the Fourth Alteration to the Constitutional Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).

The Amnesty International on Wednesday, urged security agencies and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to ensure peace at the burial of parents of leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu, in Afara Ukwu, Abia State, on Friday. There have been reported presence of military personnel in the town ahead of the funeral.
