2023: Zoning Should Be Respected — Amaechi Backs Fashola

Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, says the zoning arrangement for political offices should be respected ahead of the 2023 elections. Amaechi, who spoke during a Channels TV programme on Sunday, said the arrangement, which is usually between the north and south, should remain the same. In Nigeria, political offices — especially the presidency — are rotated on the basis of geographical zones, from the time of Olusegun Obasanjo up till the administration of President Muhamadu Buhari who is from Katsina state. Some Nigerians have started clamouring that the presidency should return to the south with the 2023 election. Asked by the anchor if the All Progressives Congress (APC) will consider giving the south-east a chance for the presidency in 2023, Amaechi responded: “It...

Buhari Closing Remarks At The Valedictory Session For Members Of FEC (2015-2019)

Yesterday’s Federal Executive Council meeting is the last time we will meet as a cabinet before the commencement of the second and final term of this Administration. 2. Our first meeting in this chamber was in November 2015. Over the past three and a half years, we worked together to deliver our campaign promises. I strongly believe that it is this team work that led to the successes recorded during our first term. 3. Some of our colleagues, with whom we started this journey, unfortunately are not here to join us in celebrating our successes. 4. Specifically, I must recognise our late brother, James Ocholi SAN who passed away in a fearful motor accident with his wife, Blessing and son, Joshua only four months after being sworn in as a Minister. 5. I want us to all put him, ...

CAN Reacts as its Northern Leaders Split over Leadership’s Visit to Buhari

The Northern wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has advised its leaders and members to stop the bickering over the national leadership’s congratulatory visit to President Muhamadu Buhari. We’re Under Pressure To Congratulate Buhari — CAN

Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has alleged that some influential people working closely with the Federal Government are mounting serious pressure on its leadership to pay a congratulatory visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, following the outcome of the last month’s presidential election.
