Former Arsenal star Wilshere admits he never expected to play in Championship after rejoining Bournemouth

The 29-year-old returned to the South Coast club three months after terminating his previous contract with West Ham Jack Wilshere has admitted he never imagined himself playing in the Championship, but he is relishing the challenge of helping Bournemouth win promotion back to the Premier League. The former Arsenal midfielder dropped down to the second tier to join the Cherries after terminating his contract with previous club West Ham in October. Wilshere says he could have seen out his £100,000-a-week deal with the Hammers but was desperate to rediscover his spark on the pitch rather than become a spectator off it.

Klopp ‘won’t cry like a five-year-old kid’ if Liverpool don’t sign centre-back in January

The Reds manager admits a new centre-back would help his struggling side but the champions are unlikely to make any signings this month Jurgen Klopp admitted that a new centre-back would benefit Liverpool, but says the Reds’ recent slide has changed nothing in terms of the club’s ability to act in the transfer market. The reigning champions are in their worst run of form in four years, without a win in five Premier League matches and having failed to score in their last four. On Thursday, they lost their proud 68-game unbeaten home record, losing 1-0 to Burnley on a miserable night at Anfield. Title favourites a month ago, they now sit fourth, and could fall behind both Tottenham and Everton should those two teams win their games in hand.

Arsenal have announced the signing of Brighton goalkeeper Matt Ryan on loan until the end of the season. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta announced earlier this month he was in the market for a goalkeeper. And he has chosen Australia international Ryan as the man to provide backup to No 1 Bernd Leno. Ryan has not been in a Brighton match day squad since the 3-0 loss at Leicester on December 13. On the deal to bring Ryan to the Emirates, Arsenal technical director Edu said: “Mat is an experienced goalkeeper, a proven talent in the Premier League and has also played many internationals for Australia. Trent Alexander-Arnold Breaks Unwanted Record After 0% Success Rate From 18 Open-Play Crosses vs Burnley

Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold broke his own unwanted Premier League record in the club's shock 1-0 defeat against Burnley last night. The 22-year-old struggled in large parts as Jurgen Klopp's side dropped more vital points in the title race. Alexander-Arnold, who has made 21 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season, attempted a total of 18 open-play crosses on Thursday evening but remarkably, he couldn't find a teammate with any of them. As a result of his 0% success rate, Trent is the only player in the Premier League across the last five seasons to not complete a single cross with over 12 attempts in a game, according to Squawka. In fact, just two weeks after giving the ball away 38 times against Southampton in a 77 minute cameo - whic...

Jurgen Klopp Reveals What Alisson Becker Said about Burnley Penalty after Liverpool’s 1-0 Defeat

Liverpool Manager, Jurgen Klopp, has revealed that goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, felt the referee was wrong to award Burnley a penalty during their 1-0 Premier League defeat on Thursday night. Burnley defeated Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield, thanks to Ashley Barnes’ late penalty. Barnes won the penalty for the visitors after Becker appeared to have made contact with the striker, but the Brazilian shot-stopper says there was no contact. “We had the ball a lot, created some and did not finish the situations off,” Klopp said at the post-match press conference after the game. “That keeps the game open, and then they get the penalty – Alisson told me he didn’t touch him, but I didn’t see it back.” The defeat against Burnley means Liverpool are now in the 4th position ...

Liverpool enjoyed most of the possession and created more chances, but were unable to break their resistance. But he missed the West Ham game because of "an agreement between the clubs", West Brom boss Sam Allardyce said. The Premier League will examine whether competition rules have been broken. Under normal circumstances, Snodgrass would have been eligible to play against West Ham, as his transfer was permanent. Can Thiago’s return to Liverpool’s midfield reignite the front three?

If there’s been any positive surrounding Liverpool’s recent Premier League form, it’s been the return of Thiago Alcantara to first-team action. The Spanish international was heralded as the missing piece of the jigsaw for Jurgen Klopp’s side when he signed from Bayern Munich in the summer – a player with ability to unlock stubborn defences, and give Liverpool more of an edge when taking on teams that defend deep. In his early performances for the Reds, you could already see the difference Thiago could make, but an injury suffered in the Merseyside Derby as a result of a horror challenge from Everton’s Richarlison left Thiago out of action for almost three months, and it’s only recently that he has regained full fitness and made his presence felt in Liverpool’s starting eleven once m...
