Amina Mohammed-Baloni, the commissioner for health in Kaduna state has tested positive for Coronavirus. The health commissioner made the announcement via a tweet and also revealed that she has gone into isolation. Baloni tweeted;   “Following notification that I have tested positive for COVID-19, I have proceeded into isolation for the necessary treatment. “I look forward to a quick and complete recovery from this infection."

1.3m People Tested For HIV In 7 Months In Akwa Ibom

A total of 1,355,203 persons have been tested for HIV in Akwa Ibom between April and October this year. The Deputy Director Technical, Strengthening Integrated Delivery of HIV/AIDS Services (SIDHAS), Dr Pius Nwaokoro stated this on Thursday in Uyo during an interaction with some media representatives on HIV treatment surge. He said the state has achieved 90 percent HIV/AIDS viral suppression rate and successfully controlled the epidemic in seven local government areas including, Uyo, Mbo, Okobo, Eastern Obolo, and Ibeno. Nwaokoro who revealed that 65,185 people in the state are HIV positive noted that the result was based on 10 years of consistent testing and counselling carried out in 21 local government areas of the state.

According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), 73 cases were recorded in Gombe, 68 in Lagos, 46 in Kano, 36 in Edo, 35 in FCT, 31 in Nasarawa, 17 in Kaduna, 16 in Oyo, 15 in Abia, 13 in Delta, 13 in Borno, 8 in Plateau, 7 in Niger, 7 in Rivers, 6 in Enugu, 6 in Ogun, 3 in Kebbi, 1 in Ondo, 1 in Anambra and 1 in Imo State. In total, Nigeria has now recorded 16,085 cases of COVID-19. 5,220 patients have been discharged from various Isolation centers across the country, while 420 deaths have been recorded.
