Strike: Plateau State University Workers Threaten Strike, Issue 7-day Ultimatum To Government

Workers of Plateau State University (PLASU) have issued a seven-day ultimatum to the State Government to improve funding for the institution or face an indefinite strike. 197 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Nigeria

197 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on Thursday, September 10.   According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, Plateau State which has now become the COVID-19 epicenter in Nigeria recorded 83 new cases, the highest for the day.   Lagos had 48 infections,  Kaduna – 17,  FCT – 16, Ogun – 11,  Katsina – 7,  Imo – 4, Edo – 3. Nasarawa- 3,  Rivers – 2, Bayelsa -1, Oyo – 1 and  Osun – 1.   Nigeria now has 55,829 confirmed cases of the disease with 43,810 discharged so far. 1,075 deaths have so far been recorded.

Plateau state government on Wednesday shut down a private hospital after 17 staff tested positive for COVID-19. Police arrest lecturer’s murder suspect

POLICE in Plateau State have confirmed the killing of Dr Nandi Drenkat, a lecturer with the University of Jos, by gunmen. Commissioner of police Edward Egbuka confirmed the incident at a news briefing on Sunday in Jos, the state capital. Gunmen stormed the residence of the deceased in the early hours of Saturday, shot him and kidnapped his six-year-old daughter. Egbuka said the police mobilised to the scene and engaged the criminals in a gun duel and arrested one of them. Plateau state has recorded its first Coronavirus death as confirmed in a media briefing by the Governor Simon Lalong. Governor Lalong who made the announcement at the Government House in Jos, said the patient died before his test result came back positive. Seven persons have been confirmed dead in the three storey building that collapsed along Seriki road in Jos, Plateau state yesterday Monday July 15th. A paedophile who is fond of luring teenage girls with bread and noodles has been caught while molesting 2 siblings in Gut village, Plateau State. Four Dead as two Rival cult Groups clash in Plateau State

Four people have been killed in Plateau state after two rival cult groups clashed at a nightclub in Kwata Zawan in Jos South LGA of the state. The Plateau State Police Command on Thursday, confirmed the incident. The Command through its Spokesman, DSP Mathias Terna Tyopev, disclosed this to journalists in Jos. Soldiers Torture 18-Year-Old Boy to Death Over Stolen Phone In Plateau State

Amadu Atajan, an 18-year-old secondary school-leaver has died after he was allegedly tortured by some soldiers attached to the Special Task Force, Sector 7, Sha District, in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. Atajan, who died on Wednesday, reportedly died from internal injuries he sustained in the hands of the soldiers. According to reports, the victim was assaulted on the account of his friend who reported a case of a stolen phone to the men sometime last week. Former Plateau Governor, Senator Joshua Dariye Gets 14 Years Imprisonment For Fraud

Senator Joshua Dariye (Plateau West) has been found guilty of diverting N1.162 billion state ecological funds while he was governor of Plateau state between 1999 and 2007, Premium Times reports. Dariye, who was first arraigned in 2007 on a 23-count charge for the offence was found guilty by a Federal Capital Territory High Court. Justice Adebukola Banjoko sentenced him to two years in prison for criminal breach of trust and 14 years for criminal misappropriation of funds.
