Police Recruit OPC To Guard Stations

A day or two ago, a video trending on several WhatsApp platforms, and said to be from Ughelli Area Command, A-Division, Delta State, showed some police officers and men running and singing solidarity song at the same time. Momentarily, a voice-over broke in, on the tape that had since gone viral. “The police are protesting,” it announced. “Stop the killing of police. Stop burning police stations. You have killed our people enough. The police are human beings. We are tired. We are ready to kill those hoodlums now. They are trying to burn the station but we will overpower them and send them back. We will kill them. We will wait for them. Yes. Enough is enough. Stop killing police. Stop burning police stations.” Apparently, speaking to his fellow policemen, the voice ordered: “Every...

June 12: Nigeria Must be Restructured to Federating Units – Gani Adams Explodes

To free Nigerians from “bondage”, Nigeria must be restructured into federating units. This is according to the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, in a statement sent to DAILY POST on Thursday in commemoration of the June 12, 1993, anniversary. He expressed joy that part of the dreams of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), has been realized with the official naming of June 12 as the Democracy Day. Adams, however, regretted that despite the sacrifices of the activists and pro-democracy groups, democracy is yet to take its root in Nigeria. He stated that Nigeria can only get it right with true federalism, pointing out that the only way out of the political logjam is to let the federating states develop at their own pace. Adams noted that when federating units are ...

Man Tricks Widow Into Sexual Affair, Rapes Her Teenage Daughters

When a Lagos-based auto mechanic, Monsuru Adesiyan a.k.a. Oba Idan told Olanike Ali, a widow, that he could help her avert another calamity barely one month after her husband died, the 39-year-old widow had no inkling of the sacrilegious sexual desire he harboured. The 35-year-old subsequently lured the widow into a sexual affair and then violated her two teenage daughters on the pretext that the only remedy to a looming spiritual attack on the family was for him to take the girls to bed and use a white cloth to cleanse their private parts for a propitiation at a deity’s groove. The widow, in her ignorance, forced her reluctant daughters, aged 13 and 19, to sleep with Adesiyan, telling them that they only had to do it for a few days. But trouble began when Adesiyan continued to e...

OPC May Join Partisan Politics Soon, Says Gani Adams

After 25 years of existence, National Coordinator Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams, said the socio-cultural group may have to spread its tentacles to partisan politics. The move, according to him, is geared towards liberating the Yoruba nation from the shackles of poverty, oppression and other injustice that has been her lot over the last years. Adams, who recalled how OPC started with nine members at Palm Avenue in Mushin in 1994, supposedly to liberate the Yoruba nation and restore the mandate of late business mogul cum philanthropist Moshood Kashimawo Abiola who won the 1993 election adjudged freest and fairest in the country’s history, lamented that that struggle has achieved little so far despite that it claimed over 2,500 martyrs. The National Public Relations Officer of the group, Adesina Akinpelu told Punch that Gani does not merit the title as he has not done anything tangible in Yorubaland for such honour.
