No fewer than 384 Nigerians have arrived Abuja following their evacuation from Saudi Arabia, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) announced on Thursday. They arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja via Saudi Air flight B773. “384 Returnees (300 Males, 83 Females and one Infant) of the 802 Stranded Nigerians in UEA just arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja via Saudi Air flight B773 at about 1:10 pm local time today 28th January 2021,” the tweet read. The returnees will be quarantined at the Federal Capital Territory Hajj camp for 14 days in line with COVID-19 protocols, NIDCOM said. Israel evacuated 274 of its citizens from Nigeria on Sunday. The move was not unconnected to the exploding cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria. The Israelis were evacuated via the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to Tel-Aviv, Israel. The flight, operated with the Air Peace’s Boeing 777-300, left Lagos with 65 passengers and airlifted 209 others from Abuja before departing the country. The China Civil Engineering and Construction Company (CCECC) handling the new terminal building at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, says the project is 80 per cent completion. Rehabilitation Work Commences At Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport In Abuja

The much anticipated rehabilitation work of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by Julius Berger has commenced. The airport runway was cleared of unwanted equipment and aircrafts while Julius Berger vehicles were seen moving construction equipment to the site on Thursday. The Manager, International Terminal, of the airport, Hajara Musa, said the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had handed over the runway to the contractor.
