On Tuesday, Italian police arrested 16 people as they smashed a Nigerian mafia drugs ring in the northern city of Trento, ANSA News Agency of Italy reported on Tuesday. A 48-year-old Nigerian identified as Joseph Olajide Akeredolu has been arrested in India for duping a diamond broker from south Mumbai of Rs 1.16 crore or $217,000. 118 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in Nigeria on Monday October 19, as confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).   A breakdown of the new cases is as follows; Lagos-51, Riversp0-26, Imo-12, Osun-8, Plateau-6, FCT-5, Kaduna-4, Ogun-3, Edo-2, Niger-1.   There are now 61,558 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 1,125 deaths have been recorded. 56,697 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.

Two more persons, including a Nigerian national, have been arrested by City Crime Branch police in connection with the drug peddling case involving dancer-choreographer Kishore Aman Shetty, police said. The Nigerian national, Frank Sunday Ibeabuchi (33) and Shamin Fernandes (28) of Kuloor here were arrested in Bengaluru, they said, but did not specify the date. Another accused in the case, Shan Nawaz (34), was earlier arrested from Mumbai for supplying drugs to Shetty and his aides through his network. Nigerian Fraud Suspect, Felix Osilama Okpoh, Wanted By FBI For $6 Million Scam Surrenders To EFCC

A Nigerian, Felix Osilama Okpoh, who is wanted by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) for his alleged involvement in a Business Email Compromise (BEC) scheme that defrauded over 70 different businesses in the United States, has turned himself in to Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Mr Okpoh, 31, who allegedly conspired with five others to defraud their American victims of over $6million, was led to the Lagos office of the EFCC by his father, retired Colonel Garuba Okpoh and his mother Justina Okpoh. Nigerian national, one other arrested with drugs worth over $17,000 in India

Bengaluru Police on Sunday, September 6, arrested a Nigerian national, one other person and seized drugs including ganja, ecstasy pills and hashish oil from their possession.   According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, South, the Bengaluru City police north division has seized 2.5 kg ganja, 20 grams of MDMA, 10 ecstasy pills and 530 gms of hashish oil valued at Rs 13.05 lakhs.   The accused identified as Samson and John have been booked under 20(b) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.   It was gathered that the duo was trying to sell the drugs near BMS engineering Hostel at around 10.15 on Sunday morning under the limits of Hanumanta Nagar Police station.

Nigerian Active GSM Subscribers Now 199.3 Million – Umar Danbatta

Prof. Umar Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), says active GSM subscribers in the country have increased from 184 million in December 2019 to 199.3 million in May 2020. Danbatta made the disclosure at the virtual launch/award ceremony of the COVID-19 Research Grant presented to three startups, by the NCC, on Tuesday Abuja. He further explained that internet subscription in the same period increased from 126 million to 147.1 million, while broadband subscription also increased from 72 million to 80.2 million, achieving a 42.02 per cent penetration in the country. The Nigerian sports community is mourning the sudden passing away of the former Eupen shot-stopper The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed the death of former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles goalkeeper John Felagha on Monday. Felagha died at the age of 26 in Senegal on Sunday but the cause of his death is yet to be disclosed. He was a member of the Nigeria U17 team that finished second at the 2009 Fifa U17 World Cup hosted on home soil and was also part of the Nigeria U20 squad that travelled to Turkey for the 2013 Fifa U20 World Cup.
