The Ogun State Government has announced the closure of its borders with the neighbouring states and the international border with the Republic of Benin. Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, announced this in a statement on Saturday. The Katsina police command have rescued four prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members kidnapped in Funtua, an area in the state, on Monday March 9th. The victims, three males and female, were traveling with their schoolmates from Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, to Zamfara state where they were posted to for the one year mandatory NYSC scheme, when the bus they chartered from Osun state, was attacked and they were abducted. Unknown gunmen have killed a businessman, Ugochukwu Oguine, in Isaiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State. The Imo chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) says its members on the employ of the state government will begin an indefinite strike by midnight on Thursday. The Lagos State Government has announced that the Third Mainland Bridge which was temporarily closed for Investigative Maintenance Test would be reopened by 5pm on Sunday (today). The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Dr Taiwo Salaam said the decision to reopen the bridge earlier than announced followed the completion of the test by engineers. The government also thanked motorists and residents for their cooperation and patience while the closure lasted. ABUJA—The Federal Government has approved the temporary closure of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, with effect from midnight of March 7 to pave way for rehabilitation of the runway for six weeks. Managing Director of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Saleh Dunoma, who announced this, yesterday, said the airport would be re-opened for operations on April 19, 2017.
