Kaduna State University Sacks Lecturer, Idowu Abbas For Sexual Harassment

The Kaduna State University, on Friday, promoted no fewer than 12 lecturers to the rank of Professor while eight others to an Associate Professor’s rank. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Abdullahi Ashafa in a statement, also announced the termination of the appointment of a lecturer over alleged sexual harassment. The lecturer fired, Dr. Idowu Abbas, was of the Department of Geography of the institution. Governor Ganduje demands for apology from American university over unauthorised appointment

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has demanded for an apology from the management of an American university, East Carolina University (ECU) over a controversial ‘appointment' he was given.   This came days after Ganduje’s spokesperson, Abba Anwar revealed that he was appointed as a visiting professor of e-governance and International Affairs in the institution. Benue varsity Associate Professor stabbed to death by unknown armed men

Police arrest lecturer’s murder suspect

POLICE in Plateau State have confirmed the killing of Dr Nandi Drenkat, a lecturer with the University of Jos, by gunmen. Commissioner of police Edward Egbuka confirmed the incident at a news briefing on Sunday in Jos, the state capital. Gunmen stormed the residence of the deceased in the early hours of Saturday, shot him and kidnapped his six-year-old daughter. Egbuka said the police mobilised to the scene and engaged the criminals in a gun duel and arrested one of them. He also confirmed that the kidnapped daughter of the deceased was also rescued from the abductors. He said that the manhunt for other fleeing members of the gang continued, promising that the command would not rest on its oars until they are arrested.

A Kano Chief Magistrate Court has granted bail to a lecturer standing trial over alleged sexual harassment of his female student. The 36-year-old lecturer, Ali Shehu, was granted N200,000 bail with two reliable sureties in like sum by Chief Magistrate Muhammad Idris. Sakina Grimwood, a lecturer at Varsity College in Cape Town, South Africa has been found dead two days after she went missing. Grimwood's body was discovered at the bottom of a Gorge on Table Mountain on Friday afternoon. She was last seen leaving Newlands home on Wednesday at 13:30. The management of the University of Ibadan has dismissed insinuations that a former lecturer, Mr Aminu Zubair, who died in his residence on the institution’s campus, committed suicide. A lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Mr Patrick Okojie, has reportedly committed suicide three days to his 47th birthday. ‎His decomposing body was said to have been found on his plot of land at Igbira Camp, along Igarra-Auchi road, four days after he was said to have been missing.
