About one month after the West African Examination Council (WAEC) released the results of candidates who sat for its November/December examination, the fate of over 70,000 students in Kano State is still hanging in the balance. The Kano state ministry of health has announced that 21 Coronavirus patients who recently recovered from the disease have been discharged. The health ministry also confirmed that 12 new cases of Coronavirus was recorded in the state, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 970. Almajiris Deported From Kano Brought 21 COVID-19 Cases To Kaduna – El-Rufai

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has stated that the Almajiris deported from Kano State last week brought 21 cases of COVID-19 to the state. Speaking on Arise Television, the broadcast arm of THISDAY Newspapers Wednesday, he said when the state took delivery of 148 Almajiris from Kano, it kept them in a holding facility where tests were conducted on eight of them with symptoms, adding that five tested positive to the disease. The Kano State coordinator of technical response team on COVID-19, Tijjani Hussaini, said three persons who tested positive of COVID-19 in the state have run away. Mr Hussaini told PREMIUM TIMES on Monday that the patients fled their known addresses and switched off their phones. The Jigawa Government has received a total of 524 Almajiri pupils evacuated by neighbouring Kano State. Receiving the pupils at Gen. Yakubu Gowon NYSC Camp in Dutse, the state Gov. Muhammad Badaru said the pupils would undergo medical screening, before handover to their respective parents. Badaru said that accommodation and feeding arrangements had been made for the pupils until they would be declared safe to reunite with their parents. Kano on Wednesday confirmed 12 new cases of COVID-19, hence with a total of 21 confirmed cases in the state. Ganduje Imposes Total Lockdown In Kano After Recording A 4th Case Of Coronavirus

At 6pm yesterday day the Kano State Ministry of Health announced that a 4th case of coronavirus had been confirmed in the state. In response to this development, the Kano State governor, Dr Umar Ganduje has ordered a complete lock down of the state as from Thursday the 16th of April. This was made known by his special adviser on new media Salihu Tanko Yakasai (@Dawisu).
