Bandits Abduct Two Airport Workers, Nine Others In Kaduna

Bandits have reportedly stormed the staff quarters of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at Kaduna airport and kidnapped dozens of occupants. A resident of the airport staff quarters told the Gazette the attack occurred around 3:00 a.m. and eight people were abducted, including members of a family and airport casual workers. It was unclear whether the abductors have contacted families of victims to discuss a ransom.

The operatives of the Department of State Security service, SSS, have reportedly raided a forest camp belonging to a network of seven armed bandits in Kaduna State, recovering some sophisticated weapons during the operation. According to a report by PRNigeria, the operatives also arrested some gunrunners and masterminds of some major abduction, including that of students in Niger, Kaduna and Zamfara States. An intelligence source told PRNigeria that security operatives eliminated some of the armed criminals after tracking them to a forest camp and engaged them in a ‘deadly’ gun battle at Birnin Gwari axis. Court Orders Prison To Release Zeenat, El-Zakzaky’s Wife For COVID-19 Treatment

A Kaduna state high court has asked the Kaduna correctional service to release Zeenat, wife of Ibrahim El–Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), for COVID-19 treatment. In the ruling delivered on Monday, the court asked that Zeenat be moved to a government isolation facility to begin treatment immediately. Last Thursday, Mohammed, son of the IMN leader, said his mother, Zeenat, tested positive for COVID-19 at the Kaduna correctional centre, but that the authorities refused to release her for treatment. El-Zakzaky and his wife have been in detention since 2015 after his followers clashed with soldiers in Zaria, Kaduna. The IMN leader is standing trial for alleged culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of public peace.

Four out of the six #EndSARS protesters who were charged with unlawful assembly in November 2020 have been discharged by a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.   The four defendants who were discharged on grounds of lack of diligent prosecution of the case by the police are Olutosin Adeniji, Abdusalam Zubarur, Paul Akinwumi, and Devour Chomo. Bandits Kidnap 17 Family Members In Udawa Chikun, Kaduna

Suspected bandits have abducted 21 people in two separate attacks on Udawa village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Seventeen of those abducted including four others, who sustained serious injuries from gunshots, were said to be members of the same family. Liman Hussaini, a community leader in Udawa, who confirmed the incident, said unknown gunmen stormed the area and started shooting sporadically, leaving several persons injured. Suspected bandits have abducted 21 people in two separate attacks on Udawa village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Seventeen of those abducted including four others, who sustained serious injuries from gunshots, were said to be members of the same family. Liman Hussaini, a community leader in Udawa, who confirmed the incident, said unknown gunmen stormed the area and started shooting sporadically, leaving several persons injured. The incident started at about 7:00 pm on Wednesday along Constitution road in the state capital and the cause is yet to be known. At the time of filing this report, officials of the state fire service and other emergency response agencies were yet to arrive at the scene.
