Nigeria has formally written to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to signal it’s interest in hosting the event. NFF media director Ademola Olajire confirmed to BBC Sports that the federation will soon submit the bidding document. “We’ve formally written to CAF about the interest to host the event. “We are working on the bidding documents and we should get it over to CAF soon.” CAF president Ahmad Ahmad told French radio station RFI that Equatorial Guinea is also interested in hosting the event. The body is in a race to find a host for the finals after Congo-Brazaville pulled out of the hosting of the 12-team event last year. Ahmad explained that a final decision will be made at its next executive committee meeting on 15 January.

Haaland Finally Reveals why he Snubbed Man Utd for Dortmund

Erling Haaland has said Borussia Dortmund’s plan “triggered” him and that is why he snubbed a move to Manchester United. The teenager has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Bundesliga side this month. However, before the move, he attracted interest from United, RB Leipzig and Juventus. On why he chose Dortmund, Haaland said according to Goal: “They just went direct and said, ‘We need you upfront, we like your playing style and we want to have you here’. “I liked how they spoke to me then and that’s what triggered me [to sign]. I just felt that me and Dortmund was a good match.” Haaland joins a Dortmund side fourth in the Bundesliga and seven points behind leaders Leipzig after 17 games.

Man Utd Chiefs To Visit Saudi Arabia Amid Bin Salman Takeover Interest

A delegation of Manchester United top brass are set to visit Saudi Arabia as rumours of a take over by the Gulf state's Crown Prince refuse to disappear. Discontent surrounding United's ownership by the American Glazer family has been apparent since their takeover in 2005, paving the way for reports of a possible takeover by 34-year-old Mohammed Bin Salman. Although they have attended in the past, an appearance by United officials at the Future Investment Initiative organised by the Saudi Royal Family's sovereign wealth fund later this month will do little to quash rumours of a purchase. According to The Transfer Window podcast's Duncan Castles, the Glazers themselves have attended in the past and United are set to be represented again at the conference in the Ritz Carlton in ...
