Lai Mohammed denies announcing N5m hate speech fine

Lagos Government increases hazard allowance of health workers to N25, 000

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has approved an increase in the hazard allowance of health workers in the state public service from N5,000 to N25,000. Sanwo-Olu, through a tweet by Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, on Tuesday said the increment was for the month of April, 2020. A circular dated April 21, 2020 and signed by the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, which was attached to Gawat’s tweet, gave details of the payment. The Lagos State coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mohammed Momoh, has said the federal government is yet to release a circular ordering the implementation of the newly approved minimum wage for corps members. Former NYSC Director General, Suleiman Kazaure, had assured that there would be an increase in the payment for corps members in accordance with the increment in national workers’ wage. The federal government in April 2019 had approved the N30,000 minimum wage for workers in the country by signing it into law. Golf: African Tour Offers $475,000 Prize Money for 2019

The total prize money of $475, 000 will be competed on the expanded African Tour billed to commence in February. The African Tour is the upgraded version of the West Africa Golf Tour that started in December 2016. President of the African Tour, Emeka Okatta announced that the new prize money represents a 33 percent increment on the $375, 000 prize money staked in 10 tournaments on the West Africa Tour last year. On the whole, 16 tournaments are on the card for this year and will feature 40 professional golfers drawn from Nigeria and several African countries. Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has dismissed reports that the Federal Government was planning to increase the monthly allowance for youth corps members.
