German Court Convicts IPOB Members Who Attacked Ekweremadu

Germany has convicted four members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who attacked Ike Ekweremadu, former deputy senate president. They have also served their sentences, TheCable further learnt. The convictions, which were handed out in August, went completely under the radar but diplomatic sources in Germany told us on Friday that the four IPOB members were prosecuted for physical assault and sentenced to 20 days of labour “without pay”. The Nigerian embassy did not immediately respond to TheCable’s inquiry for the identities of the convicts. In 2019, the serving senator from Enugu state was beaten up by Biafra agitators in Nuremberg at an event organised by “Ndigbo Germany”. Court Strikes out Charges Against Ekweremadu over Assets Declaration after Lawyer Disappeared with Case File

Charges of non-declaration of assets against former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has been struck out by a Federal High Court in Abuja. The charges instituted by the defunct Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property was struck out by Justice Binta Nyako after the prosecuting counsel Pius Akutah, told her that the former lawyer handling the case for the panel disappeared with the case file. Recall that the office of the Attorney General of the Federation took over the case and other suits being handled by the SPIP, after a presidential directive which dissolved the panel in 2019.
