The United States' House of Representatives have voted to approve a resolution calling for President Donald Trump to be removed from office through the 25th Amendment in the wake of the violent siege of the US Capitol last week, despite vice-president Mike Pence clearly rejecting the idea on Tuesday night, January 12. Pence made clear that he has no plans to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove the President in a letter saying such a move with just a week to Biden's inauguration is not in the best interest of the country. The House of Representatives has summoned heads of four government agencies to appear before it. The agencies include the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigeria National Petroleum Coperation (NNPC), Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Customs. The decision followed a resolution by the House Committee in charge of these agencies. Addressing newsmen on Thursday, in Abuja, Chairman of the Committee, Hon. INEC Releases Photos Of Sample Ballot Boxes For 2019 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission has released photos of sample ballot boxes for the 2019 General elections. The ballot boxes are in different colours, with the descriptions of the offices to be voted. The ballot for presidential votes is red, that of the Senate is black, while that of the House of Reps is green. All the three elections are taking place on February 16. For the next batch election scheduled for March 2, the ballot box for governorship election is red, while that of state House of Assembly election is black. PANIC As House Of Reps Give Rotimi Amaechi 72hrs To Produce $195m Contract Documents

The House of Representatives on Tuesday directed the Minister of Transportation, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, and other stakeholders to produce the documents on the $195m waterways security contract awarded to an Israeli security firm within 72 hours. The Federal Government had approved the contract in October 2017 for waterways security. It was approved for HLSI Security Systems and Technologies, an Israeli firm. The contract involves the procurement of security equipment, training of the country’s security operatives, particularly, the Navy, to combat waterways crimes. The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, has said the reason the green chamber of the National Assembly rejected the idea of proposed restructuring of the country was because the public did not show enough interest on the issue of devolution of power. The Supreme Court has removed Sopuluchukwu Ezeonwuka of the Peoples Democratic Party from representing Orumba North/South, Anambra Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
