House of Reps approves resolution calling on Pence to remove Trump after he rejected calls by Nancy Pelosi to invoke 25th Amendment

The United States' House of Representatives have voted to approve a resolution calling for President Donald Trump to be removed from office through the 25th Amendment in the wake of the violent siege of the US Capitol last week, despite vice-president Mike Pence clearly rejecting the idea on Tuesday night, January 12. Pence made clear that he has no plans to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove the President in a letter saying such a move with just a week to Biden's inauguration is not in the best interest of the country. House Democrats are now moving to impeach Trump for a second time as a result of the insurrection, which Trump incited after repeatedly making false claims that the election had been stolen from him and calling for his supporters to fight back. #ImpeachBuhari: House Of Reps Planning To Impeach Buhari For Spending $462m Without Approval

The spending $496m without parliamentary approval has pitched President Muhammadu Buhari against the House of Representatives with most members calling for the impeachment of the President. Following the reading of President Buhari’s request in a letter by Speaker Yakubu Dogara at Tuesday’s plenary informing the House that $496m had been spent for the procurement of military aircraft from the United State of America(USA), lawmakers could not hide their disdain for what they called breach of the constitution by the President. The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, has said the reason the green chamber of the National Assembly rejected the idea of proposed restructuring of the country was because the public did not show enough interest on the issue of devolution of power. He, however, said the House of Reps will revisit the issue of devolution of power when plenary resumes later this month.
