Cicely Tyson, the Hollywood legend who won Emmy and Tony awards during a 70-year career that spanned television, film, and theater, died Thursday. She was 96. “I have managed Miss Tyson’s career for over 40 years, and each year was a privilege and blessing,” Tyson’s manager, Larry Thompson, said in a statement. “Cicely thought of her new memoir as a Christmas tree decorated with all the ornaments of her personal and professional life. Hollywood legend, Barbra Streisand has revealed that her two new pups are clones of her late dog Samantha, who died in 2017. The Hollywood star told Variety that cells were taken from the mouth and stomach of the 14-year-old dog before she died last year. “They have different personalities,” Streisand said of the new pups. “I’m waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have her brown eyes and her seriousness.” She said she dresses the cloned dogs in red and lavender to tell them apart, which is how they got their names: Miss Scarlett and Miss Violet.

Oscar-nominated British actor Sir John Hurt has died at 77 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was well known for roles including Quentin Crisp in The Naked Civil Servant, the title role in The Elephant Man and wand merchant Mr Ollivander in the Harry Potter films. His agent, Charles McDonald, confirmed his death on Saturday. The British actor was nominated for two Academy Awards, for The Elephant Man and Midnight Express, and won four BAFTA Awards, including a lifetime achievement recognition for his outstanding contribution to British cinema in 2012.
