On Tuesday, MCI reported how a commander of the Islamic police was arrested in a hotel in the Sabon Gari area of the city. Sani Rimo has been identified as the senior official with the Kano State Hisbah Board caught with a married woman in a hotel. Rimo is said to be in charge of arresting beggars and prostitutes in Kano metro area. He was taken into custody after the husband of the woman with whom he allegedly had an affair filed complaints. Hisbah officers regularly arrest unmarried people caught in hotels, presumably for sexual activities, as part of their enforcement of the Sharia. The Kano State Hisbah has set up a five-man committee to investigate one of its operatives, Sani Rimo, who was allegedly caught with a married woman in a hotel room. The Commander-General of Hisbah, Harun Ibn-Sina, confirmed that the committee was given a 3-day mandate to investigate the matter. “I have set up an investigative committee and given it a 3-day mandate to submit its report. The Zamfara Hisba Commission says it arrested a police officer with three girls at a hotel room in Gusau. Dr Atiku Zawuyya, the chairman of the commission, stated this while parading the suspects at the commission’s headquarters on Monday, December 30.
