Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has appointed Alhaja Selimot Olapeju Ottun as the new Head of Service in the state, DAILY POST reports. This was contained in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kunle Somorin. Ottun is succeeding the former Head of Service, TPL Amope Ajibola Chokor, who bowed out of the state public service over the weekend. According to Somorin, Alhaja Ottun is a psychologist, community development expert and administrator. Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has approved an increase in the hazard allowance of health workers in the state public service from N5,000 to N25,000. Sanwo-Olu, through a tweet by Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, on Tuesday said the increment was for the month of April, 2020. As the federal government intensifies its effort to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country, civil servants have been asked to work from home as a precautionary measure against the virus. In a memo released by the Head of Service Folasade Yemi-Esan, all civil servants from grade level one to 12 were asked to work from homewith effect from Tuesday March 24 until further notice. While senior civil servants are expected to come to work, they were however asked to limit their visitors. The state government said the development was as a result of a verification exercise which exposed a fraud of N3.7billion in its remuneration system. The exercise was conducted by a screening committee set up by the Governor Samuel Ortom-led administration to examine the bloated wage bill of the state and the problem of ghost workers.
