Gale says she had spotted someone struggling in the water but did not initially realise it was him. It was only when she saw a police rescue unit run past her that she realised it was her husband because of his bathing suit. Thomas, from Granite Bay, California, was brought out of the water on a jet ski and given CPR but could not be revived. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Gale, who had been married to Thomas for 42 years and had three kids with him, told AB...

Sean Murray has played Senior Field Agent Timothy McGee on NCIS for 15 years, but his connection to the Navy runs even deeper than its involvement in his career. The actor’s dad Craig spent 30 years as a naval officer. “I remember during the Gulf War, my father’s ship had just finished a deployment in in the Gulf and was on its way back when the war started in Kuwait,” Murray, 39, tells PEOPLE. “They turned around and went back to the Gulf. I have this memory of being at home and watching Saddam Hussein on the television. He was saying that the rivers would run red with the blood of American soldiers. That was when everything hit me with what my dad does.” Growing up as a Navy brat meant Murray bounced around between bases and spent long stretches of time away from his father. But he als...

FIFA Dismisses Fake News Claiming Arab Nations Will Boycott Qatar 2022

A fake news story claiming Arab nations had demanded that FIFA strip Qatar of the 2022 World Cup appeared on a website designed to look like a credible Swiss news publication. The story was then widely reported by several major news organisations. The Local has said that it was a copycat website and it “neither wrote, posted nor removed that article”. US Judge: Grandparents Exempt From Trump’s Muslim Ban

A federal judge in Hawaii has expanded the list of family relationships needed by people seeking new visas from six Muslim-majority countries to avoid President Donald Trump's travel ban. US District Judge Derrick Watson on Thursday ordered the government not to enforce the ban on grandparents, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins of people in the United States. "Common sense, for instance, dictates that close family members be defined to include grandparents," US District Judge Derrick Watson said in his ruling. "Indeed grandparents are the epitome of close family members." Watson in Honolulu had been asked to narrowly interpret a US Supreme Court ruling that revived parts of Trump's March 6 executive order banning people f...

North Korea Tested Long-Range Missile – US

The US has confirmed that North Korea tested a long-range missile which some experts believe could reach Alaska. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called it a “new escalation of the threat” to the US and the world and warned that Washington “will never accept a nuclear-armed North Korea”. Pyongyang claimed on Tuesday to have successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). In response the US and South Korea fired missiles in the South’s waters. The combined military exercise was designed to show their “precision fire capability”, the Pentagon said. Though Tuesday’s test appeared to be a significant development, experts believe that North Korea does not yet have long-range nuclear weapon capabilities. Tillerson also warned that any nation that provided econ...

Facebook CEO To Buy Hawaii Land

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has gone to court to gain ownership of isolated pockets of land tucked away within his sprawling estate in Hawaii, many of which are less than an acre and could be split between hundreds of owners in a situation unique to the islands. The 14 parcels on the north shore of Kauai initially belonged to Native Hawaiians who were awarded the land during mid-19th century, when private property was established in the islands. Many of the owners died without a will and courts never established who inherited the land, according to court documents filed by Zuckerberg's lawyers last month. The documents say hundreds could now own an interest in the small pieces of land, including many who are not aware they do. The lawsuits ask a court to determine who th...
