Ogun Court Sentences Labourer to Death by Hanging for Beheading a 2-year-old Boy and Attempting to Kill the Mother

Justice Ayokunle Rotimi-Balogun of a High Court sitting Abeokuta, Ogun state has sentenced a 39-year old labourer, Mohammed Ibrahim, to death by hanging for killing a two-year-old baby and also found him guilty of attempting to kill the mother, Rabi Yakubu. The Prosecuting counsel, Oluwabumi Akinola, had told the court that Mohammed committed the offence on April 12, 2014, at Ofada town, Owode Egba in Abeokuta. An Iranian woman who died of a heart attack while waiting to be executed was allegedly still hanged. The woman, identified as Zahra Ismaili, had been convicted of killing her husband, who was a senior official in the Ministry of Intelligence. Her lawyer, Omid Moradi, claimed her husband had allegedly been abusive to both her and their daughter and that she had acted in self-defence. A 100 level Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) student, Daniel Nwafor, has committed suicide. Two robbers to die by hanging in Ekiti state

Two men identified as Adekunle Osho, 31, and Chinedu Ugwu, 34, have been sentenced to death by hanging after being found guilty of armed robbery by an Ekiti State High Court.   The two robbers who were handed the sentence on Tuesday November 24, were reportedly involved in armed robbery and also linked to a stolen vehicle   They were convicted for robbing one Chief Ojo Gbenga of his Toyota Camry car and N150,000 cash on or about November 14, 2014 at Oke Ila, Tinuola area of Ado Ekiti. An Osun State High Court ‎in Osogbo has sentenced a 40-year-old man, Kayode Adedeji, to death by hanging for robbing a woman of N3,420.‎ The sentence was handed down to Mr. Adedeji on Wednesday although the crime was committed on April 25, 2009.
