Olusegun Bamgbose, Esq., the National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, has advised members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to limit their celebration of the outcome of the governorship election in Edo State because Governor Godwin Obaseki may soon return to the All Progressives Congress, APC. Governor Obaseki left the APC for the PDP a few months to the governorship election after he was disqualified by the ruling party. Obaseki was, however, declared elected for a second tenure in office by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Sunday after he defeated candidate of the APC, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu with over 100,000 votes. These last three months have been difficult for us as a result of the disruptions to our lives caused by the #COVID19 pandemic. 2. As you will recall, when I first addressed you on the 23rd of March 2020, I emphasized that our response to the #COVID19 pandemic will be largely determined by research data and information. 3. The epidemiological model for Edo which was developed with the assistance of the @UBTH hinted that the pandemic will peak in Edo in the last week of June. 4. Coronavirus: No Plans to Shut Down Schools, Places of Worship in Edo- Governor Godwin Obaseki

The Edo state government has said that there is no plan to shut down schools and places of worship in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. Stare Governor  Obaseki made this known when he received religious leaders from the state in his office on Friday March 20th. He said there is no need for anyone in the state to panic as his government has taken appropriate measures to prevent the importation of the virus into the state. Our attention have been drawn to a heart breaking video of the inhuman and animalistic treatment of an official of the state created Public Works Volunteers (PUWOV) by an officer of Nigeria Prison Services in Edo State. The information available was that the PUWOV official contravened the Prison Warden who was picking passengers beside WEMA bank on Airport road, Benin City where parking and picking of passengers is prohibited. Scores of unpaid pensioners in Edo State Monday resumed their protest to call the attention of the state government to the non payment of their pension arrears and gratuity. The protesters who wore red attires, blocked the popular Oba Ovoramwen Square (Ring Road), as they sang solidarity and derogatory songs against Governor Godwin Obaseki.
