Montella Reveals Reason Behind Poor AC Milan Performance

AC Milan head coach Vincenzo Montella blamed his side's packed schedule for their sluggish performance in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Serie A newcomers SPAL. Milan relied on penalties in either half from recruits Ricardo Rodriguez and Franck Kessie to see off a stubborn SPAL side, who offered next to no attacking threat of their own at San Siro midweek. Montella, however, was quick to point out that Milan have played four games in 10 days, and recognises that performances like this can happen when players are tired. "A mature team understands that we are at the fourth game in a few days and was to be treated differently by the players," he told Milan TV. "It is a precious and well-deserved victory, but we have to play with more continuity for the 90 minutes. "It was not easy as SPAL play...

Aubameyang Admits He Wants AC Milan Move On Social Media

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has raised fresh doubts over his Borussia Dortmund future after saying he wants to move to AC Milan on social media. The Gabon international had been linked with a switch away from the Bundesliga side earlier this summer, with Chelsea, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain interested in a move for the striker, before Dortmund announced that he would be staying with the club. Aubameyang, who started his career at Milan, scored a hat-trick against Rielasingen-Arlen in the first round of the DFB-Pokal Cup on Saturday before holding a livestream on Instagram where he was asked about a return to the Rossoneri. He said: “I want to go back, but they are sleeping. What do I have to do?” The 28-year-old followed that up by doing an impression of the San Siro announc...

Full-back Ricardo Rodriguez has signed a four-year deal with AC Milan after completing a €17 million move from Wolfsburg, the clubs announced on Thursday. The 24-year-old becomes the Rossoneri’s third new signing this summer, and third since the end of Silvio Berlusconi’s near 31-year reign as club owner, joining Mateo Musacchio and Franck Kessie at the disposal of coach Vincenzo Montella next season. The Switzerland international had arrived in Milan for medical exams earlier in the week. “We need players who will show a certain enthusiasm for this shirt, which is why the first thing we do after the medical is give a tour of the trophy room,” said director Massimiliano Mirabelli. Montolivo Has ‘Spoken’ To Belotti About Joining AC Milan

Riccardo Montolivo has told Andrea Belotti to join him at AC Milan, amid reports that the Rossoneri may up their bid for the Torino striker. Belotti, who scored 26 goals in Serie A last season, has been linked with a move to Milan since a €100 million clause in his contract with the Granata is only valid for foreign clubs. Milan are reported to have made an offer of €70 million for his services after apparently missing out on Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, who has refused a return to Serie A, but Torino are hoping to keep hold of the Italy forward next season and are said to have already received rival bids from abroad, although none yet high enough to trigger that release clause. Montolivo has spent the past few days training with Belotti while on international duty and he told Sky...

Captioned “Soon”, the video posted on Twitter shows Rodriguez’s initials in Wolfsburg colours before the background soon changes to the red and black of Milan. The full-back has also arrived in Italy to complete his move, saying to reporters: “I am very happy to be here. I have not yet spoken to [manager Vincenzo] Montella. Forza Milan!” Rodriguez will become the Rossoneri’s third signing of the summer, with Villarreal centre-back Mateo Musacchip and Atalanta midfielder Franck K...
