Kano Threatens To Cancel Third Term If Private Schools Don’t Reduce Fees

The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Kiru, on Thursday, threatened to cancel the third term in the state if proprietors of private schools fail to reduce their school fees by at least 25 per cent before November 1, 2020 The Chief Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Aliyu Yusuf, in a statement, said the state would be left with no other option than to cancel the third term of the 2019/2020 academic session if the proprietors fail to adhere to the directive of the state government , in the statement, explained that the decision of the Ministry became necessary in view of the ongoing difficult economic situation, following the lockdown due to the menace of COVID -19 which affected both the socio-economic position of the general public. 13 Headteachers Suspended Over Illegal Fees In Oyo

The Oyo State Government, on Monday, ordered the immediate suspension of 13 primary school headteachers, two assistant headteachers and a classroom teacher for extortion and various misconduct. The government issued the directive through the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Nureni Adeniran, following an inspection tour of some schools in Ibadan. The Senate on Tuesday asked the authorities of the University of Maiduguri to stay action on its recent fees increment. The red chamber also asked its committee on Tertiary education to liaise with the Nigerian Universities Commission with a view to working out an arrangement to streamline fees in all tertiary institutions. NANS Reacts To FGs Reduction Of Jamb, Neco Fees, Speaks On ASUU Strike

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), on Thursday, applauded the Federal Government for reducing the cost of JAMB and NECO application forms. DAILY POST reports that the Federal Government, after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, announced the reduction in JAMB fee from N5,000 to N3,500 for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The amount charged for Senior Secondary Certificate Examination by the National Examination Council (NECO) was also reduced from 11,350 to N9,850 and Basic Education Certificate handled by NECO was slashed from N5,500 to N4,000. Silver Air, LLC filed the lawsuit, claiming the famous passengers chartered a jet but left an unpaid balance of $225,353.80. Other passengers sued include music producer Poo Bear, and some other media moguls. Sources connected to the Kardashians tell TMZ, Kim used a company called JetLux to charter planes. She pays them a large lump sum and the company then contacts other jet companies to supply the aircraft and pay those companies from Kim's money. JetLux apparently booked some flights but never paid, and that's the root cause of the lawsuit.

Paris Club Refund: NGF Resolves To Offset Outstanding Consultants’ Fees

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has resolved to offset all outstanding fees owed consultants in the payment of the Paris-London Club loan refunds to the states. The consultants to be paid include all those that were engaged by previous administrations in various states. This decision was reached in Abuja at a meeting of the Legal Committee of Nigerian Governors’ Forum held at Plateau Government Lodge. Zimbabwe Okays Payment Of School Fees With Goats

The government of Zimababwe has assented to the payment of school fees by parents using livestock or labour for the schools. Primary and Secondary Education Minister Dr Lazarus Dokora said over the weekend that school authorities should be flexible and not turn away pupils because their parents have no money to pay tuition fees. “Our schools have to be flexible and ensure those who do not have money to pay fees can work. For example, if there is a builder in the community, he/she must be given that opportunity to work as a form of payment of tuition fees,” he told local newspaper Sunday Mail.
