The UN chief was responding to a question on the permanent suspension of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s accounts by Facebook and Twitter over alleged rule violations. Trump’s Twitter Ban: We Showed “Failure” To Police Global Public Discourse – Jack

Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey has for the first time publicly reacted to the suspension of President Donald Trump's twitter account. Dorsey, while defending the suspension, conceded that it was done in a manner that undermined public discussion; a divisive and dangerous action that could set an unexpected and inappropriate precedent for free speech, one he has been a long-standing supporter for. Many have questioned the decision by big tech giants, Twitter and Facebook to suspend President Trump's accounts, including: German President Angela Merkel, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico, renowned neurosurgeon Ben Carson and virulent Putin critic, Alexey Navalny. I do not celebrate or feel pride in our having to ban @realDonaldTrump from Twitter, or how we got here. After a ...

How New Whatsapp Policy Threatens Security Of Nigerians And Other Alternatives

WhatsApp has been in existence since 2009, providing a primary means of electronic communication to over 2 billion users worldwide as of February 2020. The popular messaging platform has faced backlash since it rolled out the latest Privacy Policy update on January 4. The app announced its new policy which it would force its users to accept by February 8, or stop using the app. The new policy will allow WhatsApp to share data with its parent, Facebook. The new policy however does not apply in EU, since it violates data protection laws. With its parent company, Facebook, being embroiled in legal tussles over privacy concerns, and the new policy not leaving much choice for users, the market for WhatsApp alternatives is flourishing. Apps like Telegram and Signal have witnes...

Facebook, Instagram Extend Donald Trump’s Ban Indefinitely

The shocking events of the last 24 hours clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden. His decision to use his platform to condone rather than condemn the actions of his supporters at the Capitol building has rightly disturbed people in the US and around the world. We removed these statements yesterday because we judged that their effect -- and likely their intent -- would be to provoke further violence. Following the certification of the election results by Congress, the priority for the whole country must now be to ensure that the remaining 13 days and the days after inauguration pass peacefully and in accordance with established democratic...

Here’s what Ned Nwoko’s Alleged Zambian mistress, Phyllis Thompson shared on Facebook

I’d rather be in a polygamous r/ship marriage and know my position and be loved, respected and protected, than being in a r/ship with one undeserving person who has zero respect for me and is connecting to every Wi-Fi spot then accusing me of infidelity. It’s less headache to not ask a man what he’s doing etc. I’m just too busy working, making money and being treated like a Queen i don’t need anything more in life. I mind my own business and wait till he’s in my custody that’s when a man is all yours when he’s in your hands. Other than that stop adding wrinkles to your face it’s not worth it. When you are busy doing the right things and progressing in life. You have no time for drama.

UK set to regulate Google and Facebook

The U.K. government said Friday, Nov 27, that it plans to create a Digital Markets Unit (DMU) to enforce "a new code to govern the behavior of platforms that currently dominate the market, such as Google and Facebook."   The aim is to protect smaller competitors and give consumers more control over personal data.   Under the new code, some of the world’s biggest tech companies may have to be more transparent about the services they provide and how they use consumers’ data. They may also be forced to give consumers a choice over whether to receive personalized advertising, and they won’t be able to place restrictions on customers that make it difficult for them to use rival platforms.   The DMU, which will be part of the Competition and Markets Authority...
