Ex President Barack Obama Accuses President Donald Trump of Inciting Violence at the U.S Capitol Building

Former US president Barack Obama has accused president Donald Trump of inciting his supporters who stormed the US Capitol and violently clashed with police in an attempt to stop President-elect Joe Biden's certification on Wednesday, January 6. "History will rightly remember today’s violence at the Capitol, incited by a sitting president who has continued to baselessly lie about the outcome of a lawful election, as a moment of great dishonor and shame for our nation. But we’d be kidding ourselves if we treated it as a total surprise," he said. In the statement, he issued via his Twitter page, Obama also slammed Trump and his supporters' baseless claims of election fraud, saying, "For two months now, a political party and its accompanying media ecosystem has too often been unw...

Trump makes furious last-minute bid to block Biden but Pence defies him

Donald Trump on Wednesday launched a furious last-minute bid on the streets of Washington to reverse his election defeat, as Joe Biden was set to be certified president with an added triumph of his Democratic Party on track to win full control of Congress. In a scene unprecedented in US democracy, Trump rallied thousands of supporters outside the White House moments before Congress meets to affirm Biden's November election victory -- traditionally a formality, but one which Trump hopes will overturn the results. Trump, rambling angrily with the occasional aside lauding his four-year tenure, warned "weak" Republicans not to certify Biden's victory and put direct pressure on Vice President Mike Pence, who will preside over the session. "We will never give up. We will never concede,"...

Pennsylvania Republican state senators refuse to seat Democrat who won his election

The Pennsylvania State Senate's swearing-in ceremony devolved into a chaotic scene on Tuesday January 5, as Republicans in the state Senate blocked a Democratic lawmaker from taking his oath of office and removed the Democratic lieutenant governor from his role overseeing the proceedings. Republicans in the chamber made a motion to not seat state Democratic Sen. Jim Brewster, whose narrow win in November is being challenged by his GOP opponent even though the Pennsylvania Department of State confirmed his win. When Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman objected to the motion insisting that Brewster be sworn in, the state GOP took the rare step of seizing control of the proceedings from him. GOP state Sen. Ryan Aument introduced the motion to not seat Brewster until "such time as the ...

Trump Pushed Georgia Officials To “Find Votes” To Tilt Election

President Donald Trump pushed Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to "find" votes to overturn the election results after his loss to President-elect Biden, according to an audio recording of a phone call obtained by The Washington Post. In excerpts of the stunning one-hour phone call Saturday, Trump lambasted his fellow Republican for refusing to falsely say that he won the election in Georgia and repeatedly touted baseless claims of election fraud. "The people of Georgia are angry, the people in the country are angry. And there's nothing wrong with saying that, you know, um, that you've recalculated," Trump said in one excerpt of the call. Raffensperger responded, "Well, Mr. President, the challenge that you have is, the data you have is wrong." In another excerpt, Trum...

“The Election Is Far From Over” – Donald Trump Statement On US Election 2020

Text of a statement from President Donald Trump on US election result: “We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don’t want the truth to be exposed. The simple fact is this election is far from over. Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor. In Pennsylvania, for example, our legal observers were not permitted meaningful access to watch the counting process. Legal votes decide who is president, not the news media. “Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to e...

U.S. Supreme Court May Not Have Final Say In Election, Despite Trump Threat

While President Donald Trump has promised to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to weigh in on a presidential race that is still too close to call, the nation’s top judicial body may not be the final arbiter in this election, legal experts said. Election law experts said it is doubtful that courts would entertain a bid by Trump to stop the counting of ballots that were received before or on Election Day, or that any dispute a court might handle would change the trajectory of the race in closely fought states like Michigan and Pennsylvania. With vote-counting still underway in many states in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Trump made an appearance at the White House and declared victory against Democratic challenger Joe Biden. “This is a major fraud on our nation. Burundi shrugs off pandemic, citing ‘God’s protection’

In Burundi, the delayed arrival of coronavirus was attributed to “God’s protection”. Now that the country has three cases, authorities again see divine intervention at work and little reason to interrupt everyday life. The ruling party has sought to reassure Burundians they need not worry about the deadly pandemic sweeping the globe, allowing life to proceed as normal and even pressing ahead with a presidential election scheduled for May 20. “Do not be afraid. God loves Burundi and if there are people who have tested positive, it is so that God may manifest his power in Burundi,” said General Evariste Ndayishimiye, the presidential candidate for the ruling CNDD-FDD party. “If there have been three cases here… I’m told they are doing well, and know the coronavirus is killin...
