Seven Nigerian Journalists Die Within 7 Days

Seven Nigerian journalists have died in Nigeria within the last seven days. The journalists, who work with different media organizations in Nigeria, died of different ailments. On the list are Dan Foster (Cool FM, Inspiration FM, City FM and Classic FM), Hugo Odiogor (former Editor at the Vanguard), Xavier Ndayongmong (Crime Editor at Daily Independent), Nkiruka Udoh (Crime and Defence Correspondent at AIT), Naomi Uzor (Business Desk at the Vanguard), Aramide Praise Oikelome (the Media Project and Independent Newspapers), and Azeez Ozi Sanni (Cartoonist at The Nation). A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Victor Oshioke, has alleged that the certificate of the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki is different from other alumni who graduated at the same time with him from the University of Ibadan. Oshioke in a statement obtained by Vanguard said the statement from University of Ibadan did not answer the questions raised by those querying the academic credentials of Obaseki. FG withdraws $1.6bn in three weeks, shrinks ECA to $631m

The Federal Government has withdrawn $1.6bn in three weeks from the Excess Crude Account, as the ECA shrinks to $631m. Between November 25 and December 19, the amount in the Excess Crude Account declined by about $1.68bn, statistics obtained from the Federation Account Allocation Committee have revealed.According to Punch Nigeria, as of November 25 when the FAAC committee meeting was held to allocate revenue for that month, the balance in the ECA was put at $2.319bn.However, at the resumed meeting on Wednesday at the headquarters of the ministry of finance, the balance, according to the Permanent Secretary in ministry, Mahmoud Dutse, had dropped to $631m.Dutse, who briefed journalists shortly after the meeting, said withdrawals were made by the Federal Government from the ECA to settle the...
