DSS Invites Campus Journalist For Publishing Content On Sowore, School Demotes Supervising Lecturer

The Department of State Services has invited editor of a campus newspaper at Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Ogun State, Ayoola Babalola, for interrogation over the publication of certain contents on Omoyele Sowore. The campus newspaper had recently published articles demanding good governance and obedience to rule of law in Nigeria. Some of the articles published include: 'Will EFCC investigate Chief Bola Tinubu?', 'Sowore: An equal opportunity offender', and 'President Buhari does not believe in Nigeria'. Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture Demotes 24 Professors

The management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, has demoted 24 professors following a petitions some aggrieved people sent to the minister of education. Adamma Nwachukwu, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture's spokesperson, who spoke to News Telegraph confirmed that 24 professors have been demoted. Nwachukwu said: “Following the outcome of the process, council directed that affected persons should revert to their proper placement." She, however, declined to offer other details of the action, saying “the university is not exactly interested in blowing this matter out of proportion. Gernot Rohr Demotes Goalkeeper Uzoho & Others To U-23 Team

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has sent the first choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho and three others to the U-23 team, Owngoalnigeria reports. Uzoho, whose error led to the only goal scored by Seychelles in Nigeria’s 3-1 win in their final AFCON 2019 qualifier, will start for the U-23 on Monday, with their first choice goalkeeper Abubakar Adamu suspended following his red card in the first leg. The trio of Valentine Ozornwafor, Victor Osimhen and Chidozie Awaziem have also been asked to join the squad, ahead of the return leg of their U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya. Lagos CP, Imhohimi Edgal Sacks Eight Officers, Demotes Six

Lagos State police commissioner, Imohimi Edgal has dismissd eight officers over “very serious criminal offences”, while six others were demoted in ranks. Edgal, also said that 108 officers were disciplined for various offences from January to July, 2018 in the Lagos State Command. Lagos Command Dismisses 9 Policemen, Demotes 25

Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday announced that it has dismissed nine policemen found culpable of various offences. Twenty others were demoted for offences bordering on gross insubordination, incivility and drunkenness, among others. Military Court Martial Demotes Major General

A Military Special Court Martial on Thursday demoted Major General Ibrahim Sani, one time Chief of Transformation and Innovation Centre of the Nigerian Army, to a Brigadier General. The President of the court, Air Vice Marshal James Gbum, demoted the Major General after he convicted him on a five-count charge bordering on cheating. Sani had been standing trial in the court since 2015 after he was accused of dividing and allocating part of army land to himself. The court sat at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja. Gbum also ordered the convict to return N23 million being the money he got after he sold the part of the army land to himself. Ebonyi Demotes Five Head Teachers Because Of Exam Malpractise

Three officials of the Ministry of Education in Ebonyi State have been sanctioned for their alleged involvement in examination malpractice during the 2016 Senior Schools Certificate Examination (SSCE). Five head teachers were demoted to classroom teachers. Commissioner for Education Prof. John Ekeh announced this while addressing reporters. The sanction followed the report of the examination body, which indicted 20 schools and some officials of complicity. According to Ekeh, five head teachers have been demoted while 25 teachers and supervisors will be paid half salaries for three months. He noted that 15 private schools indicted in the report will not participate in SSCE for one year and they will pay a fine of N100,000 to deter others.
