‘What a spectacle!’: Iran Supreme Leader mocks US democracy amid election uncertainty

Iran’s supreme leader has mocked the U.S presidential election and democracy, citing President Trump’s non-evident claim of voter fraud. The Iranian Supreme leader who described the election as a "spectacle" which will be “interesting to watch" in a tweet shared on Wednesday, added that it has exposed the reality of US democracy. He also tweeted;   “What a spectacle! “One says this is the most fraudulent election in US history. Who says that? The president who is currently in office. “...

Edo 2020: “Turn Out En-Masse And Vote Obaseki”- Atiku Urge Voters

The Presidential Candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 General Elections, Atiku Abubakar, has urged the people of Edo State to cast and defend their votes for Governor Godwin Obaseki. The democracy that we enjoy today was bought at a great price. We can only deepen and sustain it by respecting the sanctity of the ballot and necessary review of our electoral processes. As the great people of Edo State go to the polls to elect their governor this weekend, they need to be provided with a secured environment to cast their votes and be assured that their votes will count. I urge all duly registered voters of conscience and who truly care about the wellbeing of Edo to turn out enmasse to cast and defend their vote for @GovernorObaseki.

Speaking on the presidential panel of The Osasu Show Symposium 2020, Jonathan said the outcome of elections should be decided by the ballots, not by any other means — not even the courts. “To me if Africa especially will move forward is not just about routine conducts of elections, this year alone in West Africa made up of 15 states, we have five states that had elections,” Jonathan said. “So in terms of regular elections, we are progressing, but are these elections credible? Are they representing a constructional democratic setting is the issue. “Regular elections, fine, but election...

The Recklessness And Deceit Of Ruga Settlements

Public policies are made in the public and collective interest. Essentially, policy experts agree that public policymaking is a process and not a one-off event; it is thus “characterized as a dynamic, complex, and interactive system through which public problems are identified and countered by creating new public policy or by reforming existing public policy.” Where any policy is contrived to advance sectional or vested interests, that policy ceases to be in the common interest. And that is exactly where Nigeria finds itself with the controversial Rural Grazing Areas (RUGA) herdsmen settlement. The folly and falsities of that policy are deep-seated and very polarizing. What is perhaps ever more disconcerting is the proclamation attributed to presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, t...
