Coronavirus Vaccine: Military To Support Rollout Logistics

The military will help the government with the delivery of Coronavirus vaccines to the public set to begin next month, the defence ministry said Thursday. According to the ministry’s policy plan for the new year, the government will set up a 41-member Coronavirus vaccine logistics support team, comprised mostly of service members and headed by the Army’s Vice Chief of Staff Lt.- Gen. Park Ju-Kyeong. Woman Dies of COVID-19 after Delivering Twins in Imo

A woman who recently delivered a set of twins has died from COVID19 in Imo state. Professor Maurice Iwu, Chairman of the Imo state COVID19 Taskforce, told newsmen today June 15, that the woman tested positive for COVID-19 a few days ago and was admitted into the state Isolation center. He said she was delivered of a set of twins but after delivery, she died, leaving behind her babies who fortunately tested negative for the novel Coronavirus. Iwu warned residents of the state to stop believing and spreading rumors that the virus is not real. He advised them to ensure they take all precautionary measures to prevent themselves from contracting the virus. According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, Imo state currently has 136 confirmed cases of Coronavirus.

NHIS seeks approval to increase COVID-19 testing, treatment via private sector partnership

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has proposed to the Federal Ministry of Health and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to allow it work with the private sector to increase COVID-19 testing and treatment. Also, the NHIS has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to ensure its personnel are protected in the fight against Coronavirus. Fix Runway Lightings of MMA, Air Traffic Controllers Urge FG

The Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) has appealed to the federal government to fix the runway lightings at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos. NATCA also urged the government to urgently rehabilitate the abandoned Taxiway B of the airport in order to increase its capacity and also to reduce the workload on the pilots and controllers. NATCA made the pleas in a seven-point communique issued after its 47th Annual General Meeting which took place on Saturday in Lagos. Air Force Promotes 64 Officers

The Air Force Council (AFC) has approved promotion of 64 senior officers of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. He said that the approval was given on Tuesday. Daramola said that the affected officers included 14 air commodores promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal (AVM). He said that 36 group captains were elevated to the rank of air commodore while 14 wing commanders were promoted to the rank of group captain.
