Governor Simon Lalong declares 24-hour curfew in two Plateau local governments

The Plateau state government has declared 24 hours curfew in Jos south and Jos north local government areas over violence.   Governor Lalong said he was forced to declare the curfew after “hoodlums attacked and molested innocent citizens who are going about their normal businesses.” He further revealed that this led to the death of 3 persons.   The Governor said;   “Government is left with no choice than to impose a curfew to stop further loss of lives and properties. “By this directive, all forms of protests are hereby banned in the two Local Governments Areas of Jos North and Jos South.”

Farmer Arrested While allegedly Smuggling Hard Drug for his Son in Detention

60-year-old fish-farmer, Muyiwa Otuyalo, pictured left, has been arrested for attempting to smuggle a substance believed to be hard drug for his son, Damilola Otuyalo, who is currently in the custody of the EFCC in its Ibadan zonal office. 28-year-old Nigerian, Victor Ude Dies in South African Police custody

Victor Ude, a 28-year-old Nigerian man died on Wednesday in a police holding cell in Cape Town, South Africa. The EFCC has declared former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayodele Oke and his wife, Folasade wanted. They were declared wanted after they failed to answer for fraud charges filed against them. Justice Chukwujeku Aneke of a Federal High Court Lagos, had on February 7, 2019 issued an arrest warrant on them, consequent upon an oral application by counsel for the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo. Why We Declared Benue Governorship Election Inconclusive – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has explained why it declared the Saturday’s governorship election in Benue State inconclusive. Announcing the decision on Monday, the Returning Officer, Prof Sebastian Maimako, announced that the number of canceled votes outweighed the number of victory margin. Reports has it that, 790,102 votes were valid, 14,560 votes were rejected while 121,019 votes were cancelled. Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party scored 410,576 votes while Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress scored 329,022 votes. INEC Declares Rochas Okorocha Winner of Imo West Senatorial Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Imo State Governor Rochas Okorochathe winner of the Imo West senatorial election. The Returning officer,Francis Ibeawuchi, who announced the results at the collation center in Orlu Local Government Area, declared Okorocha the senator elect of the district. Okorocha of the All Progressives Congress polled a total of 97,762 votes to defeat his two major contenders. His major contender, a candidate of the People’s Democratic Party Jones Onyereri scored 63,117 votes to come second while the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Senator Osita Izunaso had 30,923 to come third.  Okorocha is a two term serving governor of the State under the ruling APC.
