FBI commends EFCC over indictment of 6 Nigerians for cyber crime

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) for offering assistance to it in the investigation and prosecution of six Nigerians involved in Business Email Compromise ( BEC) and wire fraud in the U.S. United States Attorney, Joe Kelly and Special FBI Agent, Kristi Johnson, in a release made available to the EFCC, commended the Commission for its “ past and continued assistance in pursuing those that engage in Business Email Compromise and other fraud schemes” Six Nigerians: Richard Izuchukwu Uzuh; Alex Afolabi Ogunshakin; Michael Olorunyomi; Felix Osilama Okpoh, Abiola Ayorinde Kayode and Nnamdi Orson Benson were indicted and sanctioned by the FBI for conducting elaborate fraud schemes involving alleged stealing of mo...

EFCC arrests suspected internet fraudsters with mini coffin

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested six suspected internet fraudster with a mini coffin in Ibadan, Oyo State.   The suspects are Azeez Adebowale, Toyinsola Bolumole, Ifelowo Ololade, Sonuyi Ayodeji, Folarin Olayinka, and Aluko Olawale.     They were arrested during a raid by EFCC operatives of Oluyole and Alao-Akala estates in Ibadan.   EFCC acting spokesperson, Tony Orilade, in a statement on Tuesday, March 3, said the operatives recovered from the suspects items including four cars, various brands of sophisticated phones and an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card.   Mr Orilade said one of the suspects, Mr Adebowale, 38; claimed to be using the coffin as a soap rack to hypnotise his victims...

Operatives of the EFCC, Uyo Zonal Office in a joint operation with some of the Commission's operatives from Abuja, in the early hours of Thursday, November 28, 2019, stormed a building described as 'YAHOO ACADEMY', allegedly used solely for the training of youngsters in various aspects of cyber criminality. . During the raid on Essien Essien Street, Ikot Ibiok village in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, 23 suspects including operators and trainees were arrested. The suspects were between the ages of 19 and 35. . They have confessed that they were undergoing training in various aspects of cyber criminality such as Love Scam, Online Trading Scam, Theft Identity etc.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office on Thursday secured the conviction of three suspected fraudsters before Justice A. A. Popular Nigerian Musicians, Afeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael aka Zlatan Ibile, Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode aka Rahman Jago and two others will be charged to court for their alleged links to cyber crime, EFCC has revealed. Ghana Deports 723 Nigerians

The High Commissioner said that 723 Nigerians were deported on alleged illegal stay, cybercrime and prostitution between the January 2018 and January 2019. According to him, 81 Nigerians are deported on alleged cybercrime and illegal stay in January, while 115 have so far been deported in February on the allegation of overstay and prostitution. The High commissioner cautioned against inhuman treatment of Nigerians by Ghana, warning that any form of torture or ill treatment of Nigerians would not be acceptable to Nigerian Government.
