Kano Agency Intercepts Vehicle with 172 Parcels of Indian Hemp Worth N30m

The Kano State Road and Traffic Agency, KAROTA, has intercepted a Golf car conveying parcels of Indian Hemp worth over N30 million into the state. Spokesperson of the Agency, Nabulisi Abdullahi, who confirmed this in a statement on Thursday, January 21, in Kano, said 172 parcels of the drugs was seized on Gwarzo-Kano road, adding that the driver of the vehicle has been arrested. "The operation which took place on Wednesday led to the arrest of the diver along Gwarzo Road while other suspects believed to be the owners of the consignment managed to escape," the statement reads "Preliminary investigation revealed a total of 172 parcels of the Indian Hemp worth N30 Million was being convened into the state.The Agency has however handed over the exhibits to the National Drugs L...

14 Persons Killed in Ghastly Auto Crash Along Lokoja-Obajana road

At least fourteen persons were killed in an accident along Lokoja-Obajana road in Kogi State on Wednesday afternoon, January 6. It was gathered that the accident involved a bus and a truck conveying cement from Obajana occurred at Old Akpata village. According to an eye witness account, the accident occurred as a result of dangerous overtaking by the driver of the bus that was heading to Kabba. Gov Wike Arrests 14 Men Hidden in Trailers Conveying Cows from the North

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, ordered the arrest of 14 men who hid inside trailers conveying cows from the North into the state, on Thursday night, May 7. The men hid inside the trailers so as to enter the state despite ban on Interstate travel. They were intercepted by security agents stationed at the state borders. Governor Wike has summarily declared that the 14 people are to be tested first for Coronavirus and then charged to court while the cows and trailer would be auctioned.

5 trucks conveying almajiris from the northern part of the country were on Thursday May 7, ordered back to its start off point by the Cross River state government. The Anambra State Ministry of Transport has intercepted a transport company in Awka for attempting to convey passengers to Lagos and other parts of the country, in violation of the lockdown directive by the government. Illegal Arms Dealers Who Sell Ammunition for N500, Arrested in Bauchi State

Some illegal arms dealers who sell ammunition for as low as N500, have been arrested by operatives of the Bauchi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The suspects identified as Dung Bulus Rwang and Dachollum Yohanna, were arrested with 1,360 rounds of live ammunition of 7.6mm calibre during a motorised patrol along Bauchi-Jos Road.  An AK- 47 magazine was also found in the commercial Vectra car the suspects were using to convey the ammunition. Five Okomu Oil Staff Burnt To Death As Bus Goes Up In Flames In Horror Crash

According to The Nation, five staff of Okomu Oil plc in Edo State have been burnt to death in a road accident that occured along Iguobazuwa road in Ovia South West local government area. Two others were critically injured and currently receiving treatment. The bus conveying the Okomu Oil staff were said to be going to the head office at Okomu from Extension 2 of the firm when it rammed into a lorry on Friday evening. Some People's Democratic Party (PDP) members were involved in an accident yesterday January 20, during a protest in Abuja against the sack of Emeka Ihedioha as the Governor of Imo State by the Supreme Court. Ambulance Conveying Corpse of Catholic Priest’s Mother Gutted by Fire

An ambulance conveying the corpse of one Mrs. Onyemata said to be mother of Rev. Fr. Alex Onyemata, a Catholic priest serving under Okigwe Catholic Diocese, was gutted by fire over the weekend. The corpse was reportedly rescued from the fire caused by petrol leakage while the ambulance was on its way to Mercy Mortuary in Umulogho community of Obowo, Imo State. According to eyewitnesses, family members and other mourners rescued the corpse from the fire incident which occurred on Saturday January 11, at  Owerri-Umuahia expressway. The corpse was subsequently carried in a stretcher to the mortuary by the mourners who were forced to walk.

All Passengers Perish as Tipper Lorry Rams into Bus in Enugu

All passengers in a Commuter bus going to Enugu from Kaduna were on Monday killed following a collision with a tipper lorry at Opi-Nsukka, Enugu State. Eye witness report said the back tyres of the tipper which was conveying sand in the opposite direction pulled out of the lorry and rammed into the oncoming bus. Number of casualty was not confirmed but according to reports, all passengers were affected. Police spokesman CSP Ebere Amaraizu confirmed the accident.

Commotion As Petrol Tanker Catches Fire On Idiroko Road, Ogun

According to NAN, a tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit leaked some of the inflammable product it was conveying around Ajileti, on Idiroko road, Ogun, causing a fire that burnt two vehicles beyond recognition. The Idiroko unit Command of Federal Road Safety Corps, on Saturday, told News Agency of Nigeria in Ota, Ogun, that the accident happened about 4.30 p.m. on Friday. The Idiroko Unit Commander of FRSC, Mr Akinwunmi Olaluwoye, explained that the tanker was loaded with PMS and filled to the brim which leaked and caused the fire.

Gunmen in Military Uniform Attack Vehicle Carrying Election Materials in Benue

A vehicle belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Benue State was attacked by gunmen dressed in military uniform while it was conveying non-sensitive election materials to one of the LGAs in the state. The State INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, confirmed the report saying:  “This is true. Recently, our vehicle which was conveying non sensitive materials was attacked along Logo area by people in military uniform.”  It wasn't revealed if the attackers made away with any election materials.
