800 Ethiopians Killed After Defending ‘Ark Of The Covenant’

At least 800 people were reportedly killed in Ethiopia as worshippers and soldiers risked their lives to protect what Christians there say is the sacred Ark of the Covenant from local militia. Ethiopian Christians claim the Ark — the wooden chest built to hold the Ten Commandments of Moses — is being kept safe in a chapel in the holy northern city of Axum in the Tigray region. The battle between Ethiopian soldiers and rebel fighters happened in the fall, The Sunday Times reported, but it is only being reported now. “When people heard the shooting they ran to the church to give support to the priests and others who were there protecting the ark,” Getu Mak, a local university lecturer, told The Times. “Certainly some of them were killed for doing that.” Little was known ab...

Stop Tagging Soldiers As Muslims, Christians – Shehu Sani Replies Gumi

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Shehu Sani, has urged Nigerians to stop referring to soldiers as Muslims or Christians. Sen. Sani in a Twitter post warned that such would lead to the sowing of religious seeds in the minds of the troop. It would be recalled that controversial cleric, Sheik Gumi recently made some religious divisive statements on the Nigerian Army. “What I want you people to understand is, soldiers that are involved in most of the criminalities are not Muslims. You know, soldiers have Muslims and none-Muslims. The non-Muslims are the ones causing confusion just to ignite crisis,” Gumi said. Sani in his post condemned the act of referencing soldiers with their faith. Referencing our soldiers as Muslims or Christians is a condemnable ...

“It is unfair” Writer questions why Nigeria has Christian and Muslim holiday but none for traditional worshippers

Karimot Odebode has questioned why Nigeria has days to celebrate "introduced religions" like Christianity and Islam but none to celebrate traditional worshippers. The writer/poet pointed out that each year Christians and Muslims have multiple public holidays but traditional worshippers have none to celebrate their deities. She tweeted: "Nigeria is not an Islamic or Christian country. We had our religion, culture and tradition before the advent of Christianity and Islam. "It’s unfair that we get to have public holidays for Christmas, Easter, Eid el fitr, Eid el adha, Boxing Day, Maulud Nabiy but no recognition of a day set aside for tradition worshippers to celebrate. I and many others in the LGBTQ (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) community were born the way we are, many may not understand this but stop and think for a second, why would we intentionally choose this lifestyle when we know that we will be ridiculed and shamed by society? Babagana Zulum Borno State governor says Christians are also members of Boko Haram, contrary to the believe that members of the terrorist group are only Muslims. Mr Zulum made the claim at the 17th Chief Gani Fawehinmi Annual Lecture organised by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja branch at the weekend. His new claim contradicts the mission of the outlawed group fighting to Islamize the nation. According to Buhari, Trump called him into his office at the White House and during a private moment, asked him: “Why are you killing Christians?” President Buhari said he had to explain to Trump that the killings of Christians in Nigeria “has got nothing to do with ethnicity or religion,” but was a clash between cattle-herders and farmers, which had increased due to “climate change and population growth” as well as the “leadership failure” of previous governments.
