Armstrong Oko-Flex Nearly Makes Celtic Debut With AirPods In His Ears

Celtic youngster Armstrong Oko-Flex nearly made his professional debut for the club with AirPods in his ears. The Hoops were taking on Hibernian on Monday evening and wanted to inject something fresh up front. Oko-Flex was called from the bench and was ready to make his Scottish Premiership debut. But the 18-year-old still had his AirPods in while putting his shirt on and he was seconds away from taking to the pitch with them still in. It's likely he was using them to communicate with members of the Celtic coaching staff who weren't in attendance at the game. Manager Neil Lennon and 14 Celtic players were forced to self-isolate after Christopher Jullien tested positive for Covid-19. Regardless of the reason, fans were still in shock at seeing Oko-Flex ...

Dismal defensive lapses allowed David Hancko and Julis - the hat-trick hero in Scotland scoring twice this time - to prematurely end this year's European adventure.

Bayern Munich Saviour Jupp Heynckes Renews Rivalry With Borussia Dortmund In 2012

As was the case in summer 2011 following the first of Dortmund's back-to-back Bundesliga title wins, Heynckes – now 72 and entering his fourth stint at the Bayern helm - stepped into the breach with a menacing black-and-yellow shadow hanging over Germany's most successful club. The defending champions' faltering start to the 2017/18 campaign, juxtaposed with Dortmund's near-flawless run under Peter Bosz, had opened up a five-point gap at the summit. Bayern's dominance – an unprecedented five successive Bundesliga titles – was under serious threat. That was five weeks ago. Since then, Heynckes' Bayern have effortlessly pieced together a five-match winning run in all competitions. Their UEFA C...

PSG Coach Emery Denies Reports Neymar Is Disengaged At video Sessions

Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery has denied reports that Neymar is disengaged during video review sessions. The Brazil superstar is set to return to the PSG line-up, having been forced to sit out last Friday's 3-0 home win over Nice after being sent off during a 2-2 draw at Marseille the previous weekend. The €222 million man has scored 10 times in 11 matches since arriving from Barcelona in August but recent questions have been raised over his commitment to the collective for the Ligue 1 leaders. Speaking at a pre-match news conference, Emery refuted such suggestions and denied reports Neymar doesn't pay attention during video session with his team-mates. "Neymar came here with the desire and motivation to work together with the club," he said. "He has all the qualities needed,...

Heynckes ‘Breathed New Life’ Into Bayern Munich – Ribery

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has hailed to impact that Jupp Heynckes has made since returning to the club. Heynckes arrived earlier in October after Carlo Ancelotti had been jettisoned following the 3-0 Champions League loss against Paris Saint-Germain, with Bayern toiling domestically and by no means certain of making progress in Europe. Since then, Heynckes has overseen an undefeated run of six matches across three different competitions. And Ribery believes that the 72-year-old coach, who is now in his fourth spell in that role with the club, has made all the difference. “He’s breathed new life into the team and has welded us together,” he told Kicker. “He gives the players self confidence and speaks to us strongly.” Out of favour under the previous regime, Ribery is hopig to...

From Celtic Dismay To Malia Joy: Robertson’s Journey To Anfield

It was a Friday night in Scotland’s central belt in 2010. The Scottish Football League contingent of Queen’s Park’s U17s squad - effectively a second team to the Scottish Premier League cohort - had travelled to face their Stirling Albion counterparts. Following the promotion of a teammate to the SPL squad, Robertson had been named in the starting XI in his preferred position of left-back, rather than the left-midfield role he had occupied for much of the season. He takes up the story with Liverpoolfc.com, recalling vividly: “My dad came and watched me - mum couldn’t make it because of work. “I scored a goal from left-back and played really well and from that I went from next step to next step for Queen’s Park and everybody started noticing me again. “After that game I kind of ...

Carlo Ancelotti Sacked By Bayern Munich Following UCL Defeat To PSG

The Munich club were on the receiving end of a 3-0 humiliation at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday. Bayern looked in trouble this summer, as they lost to Arsenal, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Liverpool and Napoli in pre-season. However, that form has leaked into the season proper, as Ancelotti has paid the price for the club's failings, in just his second season in Germany. Despite four wins from their first six Bundesliga games, they slipped to a 2-0 defeat to fellow title-chasers Hoffenheim and most recently drew 1-1 with Wolfsburg. In Europe, they followed their 3-0 win over Anderlecht - who were also thumped 3-0 by Celtic this week - with the big loss at the hands of PSG. Following the defeat, Arjen Robben all but confirmed he would NOT get behind An...

Chelsea To Open Contract Talks With Musonda Amid Arsenal And United Interest

Musonda's current deal expires in 2019, but Chelsea want to secure his long-term future at Stamford Bridge. The 20-year-old joined the club's academy five years ago and has just been promoted to the senior squad this season. Musonda, who made 24 appearances on loan at Real Betis in 2016, impressed on his first start for the Blues against Nottingham Forest last week, scoring his first goal for Chelsea too. The attacking midfielder is highly rated by a number of Europe's leading scouts and has been targeted by Arsenal, Manchester United and Celtic over the past 18 months. Chelsea held some initial discussions with him at the end of last season but it was agreed on both sides to postpone serious negotiations until a later date. It is believed one of the reasons for the delay was that Mus...

Neymar Didn’t Shirt-Swap Snub Celtic Defender, The PSG Star Had Already Promised To Donate It To The Charity

The Paris Saint-Germain icon has been criticised for appearing to snub Ralston after the final whistle, refusing to give his shirt to the 18-year-old. However, Sportsmail can reveal the reason Neymar declined to give his shirt to the teenager is because he had already committed the jersey to the Marina Dalglish Appeal. The charity - set up by the Dalglish family in 2005 - focuses on helping those diagnosed with breast cancer. Celtic and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish played an integral role in establishing the charity with wife Marina. The shirt will be used to raise money at a forthcoming event. Neymar, the most expensive player in football history, and Ralston were involved in a heated confrontation during PSG's 5-0 win at Parkhead on Tuesday night, the Celtic defender laugh...

Robben Slams Bayern Performance Despite Comfortable Win Over Anderlecht

Arjen Robben has criticised Bayern Munich for not scoring more against 10-man Anderlecht in Tuesday's 3-0 Champions League win. Sven Kums had a premature ending to his match when he was sent off for conceding a penalty after just 11 minutes, with Robert Lewandowski burying the resulting spot-kick. It remained 1-0 all the way until the 65th minute when Thiago Alcantara eventually doubled their advantage, stabbing in Joshua Kimmich's cross, with the young German then adding Bayern's late third. Robben — who played the full 90 minutes — was thoroughly underwhelmed, however, insisting that Bayern should have made more of their man advantage. "Normally if you win a Champions League game 3-0 it's good," he told reporters. "But if you get a penalty after 10 minutes, lead 1-0 and have ...

Unai Emery: Champions League Is a Big Objective For PSG

PSG signed Brazil's Neymar for a world record fee of 222 million euros ($265.40 million) during the off-season and also recruited Kylian Mbappe on loan from AS Monaco. PSG have never won the Champions League title, nor made the semi-finals since 1995, but expectations have risen since they were bought by Qatari Sports Investment in 2011 and won four of their six Ligue 1 titles since then. They have not, however, progressed beyond the quarter-finals in Europe's premier intercontinental club competition since the acquisition and Emery said those results now take precedence. "I know it is a big objective for the club, but we are doing and feeling well, the players are doing well but I know it will be difficult," Emery told reporters ahead of their clash with Scottish champions Celtic. "I ...
