Boko Haram attack UN hub in Borno, trapping 25 aid workers

A faction of Boko Haram linked to the Islamic State have attacked a UN base and overran a humanitarian hub in Borno.   It was learnt that scores of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters invaded the town of Dikwa in restive Borno state, dislodging troops from the military base and torching the humanitarian hub.   Security and humanitarian sources told AFP that the attack left 25 aid workers trapped. Coronavirus: Borno State Government Bans Visits to IDP Camps

As the world battles the Coronavirus pandemic, the Borno State government has banned visitors to all Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps across the state. The 4-week ban was announced by Chairperson of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Hajiya Yabawa Kolo. The Borno State Governor,  Prof Umara Zulum paid an unscheduled visit to Umaru Shehu Ultra Modern Hospital and the State Specialist hospital, last night. At Umaru Shehu Ultra Modern Hospital, he met patients in pathetic condition and could not find a single doctor on duty. As a result of their absence, Prof  Zulum had to place a call to all the 10 medical Doctors on duty, but none of them answered the call not knowing it was the Governor that was calling. Only 10 nurses were found on duty out of about 138 nurses on the payroll. The Governor went round all the wards to see the situations of the patients and later requested for the hospital's staff pay book and made role call.
