Robbers attack commercial bank in Ondo

CBN Returns Excess Bank Charges To Customers

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Thursday said it has so far recovered over N60 billion from erring banks as excessive charges imposed on customers. The CBN Director of Corporate Communications, Mr. Isaac Okoroafor who attended a two-day customer sensitisation forum in Owerri said the recovery of the excess bank charges was made possible through the bank’s Consumer Protection Department. CBN Drops ATM Withdrawal Fee To N35, Reviews Bank Charges

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released its downward review of charges placed on Nigerians for the maintenance of Automated Teller Machines (ATM) cards and the fees for electronic financial transactions. According to the changes made by the CBN, bank customers will henceforth pay N10 for each electronic transfer below N5,000, and N25 for electronic transfer between N5,000 and N50,000. The new rule, which takes effect from Wednesday, January 1, states that electronic transfer above N50,000 will be at the cost of N50. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has withdrawn the operating license of Skye Bank. CBN Governor, Godwin Emefile announced the decision of Friday evening in Lagos. Polaris Bank has been established to assume ownership of the assets and liabilities of Skye Bank. The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation has injected N786bn in the new bank. The management of the defunct bank was however retained for its good performance.
