Ogun Court Sentences Labourer to Death by Hanging for Beheading a 2-year-old Boy and Attempting to Kill the Mother

Justice Ayokunle Rotimi-Balogun of a High Court sitting Abeokuta, Ogun state has sentenced a 39-year old labourer, Mohammed Ibrahim, to death by hanging for killing a two-year-old baby and also found him guilty of attempting to kill the mother, Rabi Yakubu. The Prosecuting counsel, Oluwabumi Akinola, had told the court that Mohammed committed the offence on April 12, 2014, at Ofada town, Owode Egba in Abeokuta. At least four persons have reportedly been killed in fresh attacks in Kagara community in Niger State. This attack comes after the 27 students and three teachers of the Government Science College in Kagara abducted by suspected bandits last Wednesday, February 17, regained their freedom in the early hours of today, February 27. Bandits Kill Two bBothers in Kaduna

Two brothers have been killed by bandits that attacked Gidan Maikudi hamlet, a herders' settlement in Kerawa ward of Igabi local government area on Thursday February 4. According to a statement by Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, the deceased brothers are identified as Maikudu Husaini who died on the spot during the attack, and Nafiu Husaini who died from gunshot wounds after he was rushed to the hospital. The statement adds that local vigilantes in the community mobilized to repel the attack, and in the ensuing gunfight, beat back the bandits who withdrew with several casualties

One person was killed while seven others sustained injuries when men of the Nigerian Customs Service clashed with suspected smugglers along Sagamu Interchange/Abeokuta expressway in Ogun State.
