Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has appointed Alhaja Selimot Olapeju Ottun as the new Head of Service in the state, DAILY POST reports. This was contained in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kunle Somorin. Ottun is succeeding the former Head of Service, TPL Amope Ajibola Chokor, who bowed out of the state public service over the weekend. Shops and goods located in the popular Oba Market in Benin City, Edo State, were destroyed when a fire tore through the market. The fire started at about 12:05 am on Monday, June 22, and raged till 6am. By the time it was put out by fire fighters, a large section of the market had been destroyed. The cause of the fire has not been revealed. According to reports, there was no power supply in the area at the time the fire began, thereby ruling out the possibility of an electrical fault. Minimum Wage: Tripartite Committee to resolve before expiration of labour ultimatum – FG

The Federal Government has assured the organised Labour that the Tripartite Committee on the National Minimum Wage would conclude its negotiation before the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum. Ms Amal Pepple, Chairman, Tripartite Committee on the new National Minimum Wage gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen on Thursday in Abuja. The organised labour had on Sept. 12 issued a 14-day ultimatum that would expire on Sept. 25 to the Federal Government for the Tripartite Committee on the National Minimum Wage to reconvene and complete it’s assignment.
